More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Been veg for close to 20 years now - been vegan for about 3 years, the toughest thing about going totally vegan is having to pass up that non-vegan cookie, cake, etc.!!! Would have become veg as a toddler probably, if I had been able to convince my parents - never liked the idea of eating animals (WHA???) - but always liked to cook, so the dessert challenge is one I'm up for!

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

Joined HappyCow because I've been using the site for years - best listings around when travelling, so how can I resist being able to share my faves?

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

New Harmony is a MUST when in Philly, I want to try Horizons now that they've moved to the city, I loved them when they were in the 'burbs! NYC is amazing for veg feasts - some places that I'll return to are: Wild Ginger, Radha, Caravan of Dreams, Candle Cafe, Franchia, Pukk, and Angelica Kitchen - lately, I've discovered that the little cafe in Jivamukti Yoga is a very sweet little spot for a quick bite!

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

BANANAS! Fresh summer fruit! So Delicious Mocha Almond Fudge (becoming an addiction!), Green and Black's Organic seriously dark chocolate, brown rice AC sushi, vietnamese salad rolls, just about anything I can dip in that hot sauce with the rooster picture on it...

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

The Candle Cafe cookbook is amazing - the oatmeal cookie recipes are fabulous - if anyone knows of a fabulous vegan all-dessert book, please do share! VegNews is a very worthwhile read : http://www.vegnews.com/
