More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I was first intrigued and still encouraged by the health benefits realized by others. I am also very inspired to do what I can to prevent mistreatment of other living beings, as I believe in the power that our choices make. Additionally living as a vegan is the most powerful action I can personally perform to benefit the Earth's ecological preservation.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I put Happy Cow app on my smartphone shortly after starting vegan lifestyle. It was so helpful in supporting this change in my life. Both at home and while travelling.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

San Francisco and Berkeley where I work and live have support for vegans. Other big cities I've visited since becoming vegan were Los Angeles, NYC, Boston, and Philadelphia and there were many vegan choices found on Happy Cow. Happy Cow helped me find Vegan Treats on a visit to Bethlehem, PA. I would like to do more cycling touring vacations in the future where I believe I will be challenged to find vegan food.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Good mock foods are a treat because it brings me back to eating experiences that I will never experience again. So I like vegan burgers, pizza, and mock meats sometimes. I found that Indian, Himalayan, and Thai restaurants will typically have vegan selections. And putting together dishes from fruits, veggies, nuts, beans, and grains always works.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Forks Over Knives, Fast Food Nation, Supersize Me, Earthlings, Plastic Paradise and Cowspiracy are movies that come to mind, but I gain much from watching video presentations posted on YouTube or Facebook such as those from Dr. Michael Gregor, Gary Yourofsky, Collen Patrick-Goudreau, and Dr. John Furman. Would like to read 'How Not to Die' because I love Dr. Greger's youtube posts. Would like to read John Joseph's 'Meat is for Pussies'
