About:
I've lived in various places: six years in The Netherlands, 1.5 in Thailand, five years near Los Angeles CA, four in Boston MA. I hold a PhD in religion and science from Boston University and a BS and MS in geology. I was lacto-ovo for 3.5 years before turning vegan 3 months ago. I'm not super strict at the moment--transitioning--but getting stricter.

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

It isn't for health reasons. Factory farms are very cruel places whether the animals are there to give their bodies or merely eggs or milk. I don't want to be complicit in animal torture anymore.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

1) To give a review of a local veg-friendly restaurant, 2) to add my name to the growing list of people that restaurants and food stores want to make customers of.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Geez, is this a dating site? I loved Thailand. The Netherlands had its charms too. Rome, Pisa, Cologne, San Diego, Yokahama, Baja peninsula of Mexico, eastern France, middle Germany, Madrid, Boston, coastal Maine (the state), northern Michigan, Isle Royale in Lake Superior (!), southeastern Canada, St. Petersburg Alaska, London. Slovenia is gorgeous and charming. Grand Canyon is beautiful--especially from the river. Death Valley is stark but stunning. In space, I'd like to visit anywhere I haven't been. Australia next, maybe. Or Africa, South America....

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I love vegan Thai and Indian food!

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Books: 1) Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine, 2) Alfred North Whitehead's Process and Reality, 3) David Ray Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor and 4) Unsnarling the World Knot, 5) Michael Denton's Nature's Destiny Music: 1) Al DiMeola's Splendido Hotel and 2) Casino, 3) Jeff Beck's Wired and 4) Blow by Blow, 5) Mozart's Little Night Music, 6) Kings X's self-titled and 7) Faith, Hope, Love, 8) Tool's Lateralus, 9) Vivaldi's Four Seasons
