More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

My initial reason to go vegetarian was learning that my diet could make more of a difference to climate change than all forms of transportation combined. I also thought that a more plant-based diet would be way healthier for me. Once I did more research into the agriculture industry, the morals of eating animals really affected me. I am mostly vegan, although occasionally I eat something that has dairy or eggs in it so it would be wrong to call myself a true vegan.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I love learning about vegan and vegetarian places to eat in my neighbourhood! This website is my first stop every time I am somewhere new and in need of good food. There are so many places I never would have learned about if it weren't for this website. So I figured it was time to join and start contributing my voice to the community.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I first considered going vegan while living in Berlin. I visited "Veganz", which is an all-vegan grocery store, and I thought "if places like this exist, how hard could going vegan be?" I also visited a place for an all-vegan brunch, and after eating four platefuls I still did not feel heavy and bloated the way I did after eating too much meat. I wish I had been in Berlin longer after developing a plant-based diet, because I would have loved to explore more! I would love to discover the vegan cuisine in New York, Portland, and London.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Pesto mac and cheeze, poutine, scrambled tofu, and mock ginger beef.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

"How to be Vegan" by Elisabeth Castoria is an amazing resource for making a transition to veganism. And I love "Vegnews" magazine.
