More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I have been an animal lover all my life. I live in the Chicago area. Chicago use to have the stockyards. I remember as a child seeing the huge trucks filled with steer on their way to slaughter and how upset that made me. When the stockyards closed in 1973, someone took a picture of a steer going up the ramp to the truck, he turned his face around to the photographer and I'll never forget that look on his face, as if he knew what was going to happen to him. I just started to cry and it was at that moment that I gave up meat. I gave up fish a month later. I just cannot fathom the thought of anyone eating a living, breathing animal. It is so cannibalistic.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
It's nice to interact with other vegetarians. I think we are a special group of people who care about animals and the planet we live on. In today's world, both groups need all the help they can get.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I really liked San Francisco and San Diego. I also like Minnesota and the upper peninsula of Michigan. The places that I would love to go to (but never will because I will not fly!!!)are Ireland, Egypt, Rome and Greece.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Gardenburger Riblets, Morningstar Farms Corn Dogs, Boca Burgers, Vegetable Lasagna, Organic Wheat Pasta, Thai Vegetarian Spring Rolls
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I loved Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code. My favorite movies are The DaVinci Code and The Brave One. Don't really have a favorite magazine. But my favorite group is Eurythmics. They've been around since 1983 and are still going strong. Annie Lennox used to be a vegetarian (and might be today).
