More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I am a firm believer in caring properly for our environment. I believe that respect for the earth and all her creatures is of the utmost importance. I do believe in the circle of life so I do eat some meat, however, I limit my meat intake to 1-2 times a week for health reasons. The only kind of animal products I will put in my body are organic, free-range, hormone/antibotic/pesticide free. I'm passionate about healthy, natural, tasty food the way Mother Nature intended it to be and a good balance in all aspects of my life.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I actually found this website simply by surfing the web for health conscious websites with good recipes, listings for vegetarian and healthy restaurants and other information. Happy Cow looked quite interesting and I liked what I saw, so I joined. :-)
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Sunflower Restaurant-really good vegetarian and vegan restaurant, here's their website: http://www.crystalsunflower.com/ I'd love to travel all over the world little by little. :-)
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
TOFU!! I love finding and trying out new tofu recipes. Fruit-I absolutely LOVE fruit: raisins, bananas, oranges, apples, strawberries, the list just goes on. I could easily eat my weight in fruit. Cereal and oatmeal. Veggie burgers-love these fried up crispy in olive oil, so good! Peanut butter-I have always loved peanut butter ever since I was a little kid, one of my favorite sandwiches ever. Chocolate of course, Endangered Species Chocolate is one of my favorite brands, here's their website if you want to check them out: http://www.chocolatebar.com/
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
"The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair, "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes, "The Pig Who Sang to the Moon: The Emotional World of Farm Animals" by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, "Pleasurable Kingdom: Animals and the Nature of Feeling Good" by Jonathan Balcombe, Earth Island Journal (good periodical on environmental issues), "Vivisection" by CS Lewis (good essay written by the author of the Narnia books on the horrors of vivisection and why it will be detrimental to civilization if continued, found in the anthology "God In The Dock")
