More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

animal rights, the environment, health. in that order.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

For my first time leaving the U.S. in 2009, I wanted to make sure I could eat well while traveling in Europe for several weeks. Thanks to Happy Cow I did, and I have come to rely on it ever since. For me, eating veganized versions of other countries' cuisine is one the great joys of traveling. Also, it's nice to be able to find the one vegan stop on the way to the Jersey Shore (I'm looking at you Wildflower!)

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Does Arkansas count? I've lived in Lancaster and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Brooklyn and Rhinebeck, New York; Asheville, North Carolina; and Sedona and Flagstaff, Arizona. I've eaten well as a vegan traveling to Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Scotland, England, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Animal Liberation by Peter Singer and Diet for a New America by John Robbins are the 2 books I read that gave me the information I needed and affirmed my conviction to go vegetarian at 10. fast forward 25 years and here are a couple great vegan recipe blogs I gather almost daily inspiration from in the kitchen - Dan and Annie Shannon's Meet the Shannons http://www.meettheshannons.com Isa Chandra Moskowitz's Post Punk Kitchen http://www.theppk.com/
