More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

It's been so long... hard to remember... :) several things really; I can eat with a reasonably clear conscience, be fairly healthy, and still enjoy my food.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

There are several other sites I've perused / lurked around, this came across as the friendliest. I'm pleased to say it has turned out to be friendly too :)

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

Italy, especially Florence and Rome - so much history and beauty. Sri Lanka - great people. And of course California, still the best place I've been whilst awake. Where next? Well... Palo Alto for a start. New Zealand is still on my tick-list; and when world climate / political / financial situation allows, then finish exploring the rest of the Roman world - Egypt, North Africa, the Middle east, and the Balkans.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Carrots, pine kernels, tomatoes. The English aren't famous for their cuisine (well, not in the sense I'm intending...), but I do like simple food anyway.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I don't really read fiction, though all humans should read Terry Pratchett at least once. As for movies, it's more a theme than a specific recommendation - sometimes successful movies are also good movies, and sometimes it's okay to like popular things, or things which are more entertainment than enlightenment.
