About:
I have been a vegetarian since I was eighteen & a vegan for the last few years. I have eight animals at home - four dogs & four cats - & also an animal called a wife, for whom I learned to make delicious vegan meals because there are few vegan-friendly places in Kentucky, where we lived for many years. Now we're living in Texas, in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, where there are a dizzying number of vegan choices - but I still love to cook!

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

For me, I became a vegetarian because of the realization that something that I could not kill had to die for me to eat. That was a hard thing to reconcile. & yes, it's because of the Smiths' "Meat Is Murder." Sometimes it takes powerful art to shift one's world view. It's never been about the healthful effects or helping the planet, although I am very glad it turns out that those as also benefits of being vegetarian/vegan. The wife & I decided to become vegan about seven years ago as a natural result of finding out more & more about the suffering of the animals that give us milk & eggs, etc. It turns out there's a world of wonderful food out there - for many people, a vegetarian or vegan has a restrictive diet - but for me, it's opened my mind to many, many different kinds of foods & cuisines.
