More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I became vegetarian years ago when the day I watched Food Inc. American people are generally very detached from their food sources and undereducated about food and nutrition, as was I. As I researched topics such as how food is grown and produced, food additives and preservatives companies like monsanto and more my food choices changed as well. It wasn't about being vegetarian or vegan anymore it was about voting with my dollar and making the least amount of impact on the planet possible while being the healthiest I could be.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

Like many adventurous vegetarians or vegans when I'm traveling or moving to a new place, Happy Cow is one of the first places I visit in order to find the best local restaurants and grocery stores available. It seemed fitting that I would include Happy Cow in my social network as I work on expanding my knowledge and share it with like minded people.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

For vegetarians and vegans you can't beat Portland, Oregon. I was born and raised in the Portland area and so I was accustomed to the open-mindedness of the people and general acceptance. I didn't really grow to appreciate Portland however until I moved to Italy. I love Italy as well, however the support system for vegans and vegetarians is minimal compared to Portland.
