More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Healthier, happier and heartier eating!
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
We travel a lot and use many of the mobile restaurant reviewers apps. I found the Happy Cow community is well aligned with our personal goals and the reviews and the recommendations are just spot on!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
In Ojai where we live our favorite "quickie" spot is the Rainbow Bridge. But, the Hip Vegan is the real Dine-In place in Ojai. In nearby Meiners Oaks we love The Farmer and The Cook and in a neighboring town called Oak View, Vegan Mario is a must. Places that we'd like to visit are too numerous to list!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
TOFU! Also, Seaweed (especially Hijiki) salad really hits the spot. Raw foods are a delicacy that are well desired. And, really tasty vegan foods are always on the list to splurge on whenever possible, but the key word with vegan is TASTY!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Movies of Great Compassion: ? Ishi: The Last Of His Tribe (1978, 1992) Last Living Native American (Yahi) Indian became a "Living" Museum Piece; ? Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) True Japanese Story of Animal Loyalty; ? Kundun (1997) Peaceful Undertakings of the 14th Tibetan Dalai Lama; ? Whale Rider (2002) First New Zealand Maori Female Whale Rider. Great Directors (And Great Movies): ? Akita Kurasawa: The Magnificent Seven (1960); Ran (1985); Rashomon (1950); Dreams (1990); Seven Samurai (1954). ? Steven Spielberg: Raiders of the Lost Arc (1981); E.T. The Extraterrestrial (1982); Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984); Schindler's List (1993); Saving Private Ryan (1998); Bridge of Spies (2015). ? Ang Lee: Crouching, Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000); Sense and Sensibility (1995); Life of Pi (2012); Broke Back Mountain (2005). A small sampling of intriguing books I've read so far: ? The most compassionate book on sales I've read: The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandingo; ? The most amusing book about change: Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson, M.D.; ? A classic book in industry: Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill; ? A most thought-provoking book on Human perception: The Art of Happiness by 14th Dalai Lama and Howard Cutler (A psychiatrist).
