- About:
- Originally from Germany, I now live in Las Vegas, USA for the last 6 years. I became vegetarian through personal experience with cancer in my family and my knowledge of nutrition as certified chef. This also inspired me to start Belsandia - a guide to a healthy, cruelty-free, and sustainable lifestyle. My mission with Belsandia is to assist people in finding their personal path to a healthier, more conscious, and greener life.

More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Growing up as certified chef in Germany I never made the connection between food and health, but that changed drastically when my mom died of breast cancer and my dad had colon cancer in 2004. It prompted me to start researching the connection between food and health and I became vegetarian first, and a few later vegan, as I learned bout the dairy connection to cancer and as I wanted to avoid all animal cruelty in my life.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
This is the best updated and fun veg friendly community to be involved with! When I need info on the veg restaurants in a new city, Happy Cow is always my trusted go-to resource.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Too many places to name - I was lucky to visit over 30 countries and some of my favorites are Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, Paris, London, Granada, Hawaii, Siena, Napa wine country Visiting China and South America extensively is on my list to do!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Thai and Indian very spicy vegan curries and dishes. Latin and Italian vegan meals. I am getting more into raw vegan delights as well.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Everything that was ever written or video-recorded by Dr Neal Barnard, Dr Michael Greger, Dr Thomas Lodi, Dr John McDougall, Dr Colin Campbell, Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr Richard Oppenlander. I'm a big fan of VegNews as well. Movies that shook my world into becoming vegan: Meet your meat, Earthlings, Eating, Food Matters, Healing Cancer from the inside out, Forks Over Knives
