- About:
- I am resilient, ethical, intelligent, analytical, empathetic, well-educated, loyal, nurturing, independent, fun, and spunky. I am a Native Californian with a passion to see more of the world and experience the multitude of people, cultures, and sub-cultures within it. I have a particular interest in Africa and The Middle East. So far, I have traveled to The Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Africa, Canada, and Mexico. I'd love to explore Italy, France (where my people are from), and much, much more of Africa. I am a long-time social activist and believe the treatment of animals and humans is inextricably linked; I make it my business to fight to protect both. As Martin Luther King Jr once said, "The suffering of anyone (human or animal [SIC]) is an injustice to us all." I am a proud, ethical, abolitionist VEGAN ? http://www.abolitionistapproach.com/about . I have been a fervent animal activist all my life and volunteer with innumerable organizations, such as www.GoVeg.org and www.PCRM.org ? I do not believe any animal was put on this Earth for humans to eat, wear, experiment on, or abuse in "entertainment." I believe all living creatures are inter-dependent and deserve freedom to live peacefully and without threat to their lives or well-being. I fight for human rights internationally through organizations such as Amnesty International. I dedicated many years to fighting apartheid in Africa and continue to fight against racism of any kind, all over the world. I also fight against anti-semitism and have visited Auschwitz Concentration Camp in O?wi?cim, Poland and the old Jewish ghettos in Krakow, Poland. I am a prolific reader of holocaust survivor memoirs. I am also a long-time children's rights advocate, with a focus on foster child advocacy/protection & domestic violence reform. I am a straight-alley who fights for gay rights and was very active in the fight to over-turn the ban on gay-marriage in California. I continue to fight for equal rights for gay people, world-wide, with many organizations. Career-wise, I wear three hats which keep me very well-balanced, analytically and creatively: I am a Psychotherapist with a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology. I am licensed as a Marriage Family Therapist Intern (MFTi) tho I am not currently working in the field. I interned at San Francisco State University's Psychology Clinic, Family Service Agency of Marin's Family/Child Team, and the Primary Intervention Program at Brookside Lower Elementary School. I plan to pursue my Ph.D. in Clinical/Child Psychology and am particularly interested in resiliency and control-mastery theories. I am a life-time academic; the science of both the brain and the mind endlessly excite me. I own For The Love of Numbers, an accounting-based Bookkeeping, Payroll, & QuickBooks Consulting Firm that I started when I was a mere 20 years-old. I work with small-businesses from all industries and enjoy teaching people how to run the financial end of their businesses. I work all over the Bay Area, California and also have clients across the State and Country whom I am able to work with remotely, thanks to the advent of Remote Access on the Internet. www.ForTheLoveOfNumbers.com and https://www.facebook.com/ForTheLoveOfNumbers I also do full-time pet and home sitting through my business, Spoiled Sweet. I serve the entire Bay Area in California. I care for all breeds and types of animals, from dogs, cats, and bunnies, to horses, cows, and kimono dragons. I offer short and long-term care and have a plethora of local references. Because my other "hat" is bookkeeping, I am able to offer 24 hour in-home care because I can work from my computer while I pet-sit. (A lot of people who work at home, are retired, or have special-needs animals really love this, as it is not usual for professional pet-sitters to stay at home all day.) I am absolutely crazy in love with all animals, so I *want* to be around them as much as possible. ? https://www.facebook.com/SpoiledSweetPetSitting I have been a Choral Singer since 2003. I currently sing at College of Marin. I sang 1st Alto and 2nd Soprano with The Mayflower Community Chorus for 10 years and have toured in The Czech Republic and Portugal. I am the Creator and Facebook Administrator for The Mayflower Chorus's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MayflowerCommunityChorus. I have also enjoyed singing with other choruses such as the Threshold Choir in Marin County. :-> That should give you a pretty good framework for who I am and how I choose to live my life. I am happy to re-connect with old friends and other social activists, as well as accept referrals for either of my businesses. ?
