More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I'm mostly inspired by the environmental reasons, but I also love animals and hate factory farming. Health reasons are a convincing selfish motive.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I would like to belong to a community of vegetarians instead of just talking about it on unrelated forums
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I was born in West Virginia and spent my childhood between there and North Carolina. I have been to Las Vegas, which I hate, Arizona, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina. ..Chicago stinks, Pennsylvania is OK, and Canada. I would like to spend more time in the deep South or the Pacific Northwest because I like nature. Been considering moving to Coastal Central California, like Monterey. I like Big Bear but wouldn't stand the winters, might as well go back to West Virginia and be near family. ..I don't care as much about global travel as I once did, but I am interested in Central/Eastern Europe and Far East Asia. ..in South America, Argentina or Brazil are interesting.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Bananas, nuts, pomegranates, potatoes, kambucha, asparagus, artichokes, almost anything with chickpeas, eggplant tofu, nut butters, tofu pad Thai, hummus, edamame, udon, bean tostadas with guac, miso soup, vanilla hemp milk, coffee, tea, dolma, vegan mushroom gravy, Native Foods Chkn Twister Wraps, tofurky roast, pasta, veggie dogs with melted Daiya and ketchup, 800 Degrees Marinara pizza with Daiya, mushrooms, basil, cherry tomatoes and Kalamata olives, TLT marinated tofu tacos
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Forks Over Knives is really earth shattering in terms of health reasons. The recent documentary Racing Extinction is a good environmental argument. Year of the Dog is a good indie dramedy.
