About:
I'm an animal (and everyone) lover, a photographer, a Brussels sprout addict, a creative, a traveler, and a bit of a wanderer...trying to figure out my place. Studying psychology, living the top ramen college life (vegan ramen of course), by the rocky WA beach, with my favorite person (who's not vegan-yet) and my cat child. Grew up with a lot of genetic health challenges. It's an ongoing struggle, but I am using a positive attitude, a vegan diet, and as much natural medicine as possible to try and live my best life :)

More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I do not feel right (morally/ethically/emotionally/or physically) eating other animals or their bodily fluids. (Or wearing their skin/hair/bone/etc. Or using products that were tested on animals). I also believe that a vegan diet is best for human health, the environment, and the world

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I was always using HappyCow to look up restaurants in my area, and in other areas when I traveled. It's been so helpful to me, I don't know how I would have survived without it! Now I know most of the places with and without vegan options in my area; I've had mostly good experiences (a couple bad ones) and I've found a couple great places not even listed on this site! I realized I need to join, and share my experiences with people to hopefully help others like the reviews always helped me! :)

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

As far as travel goes, I've always had a great sense of yearning to explore this world... I just haven't gotten much of an opportunity to do it. I've seen a few US states, and been up to Vancouver, Canada. But the only real world-traveling experience I've had was a junior high trip to China. We went to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Xi'an. Unfortunately it was not a good trip for multiple reasons, but I'd like to go back one day. I'd love to see the whole world if possible, but some of the places I'd especially like to see are India, Thailand, Australia, Italy, France, England, Africa, Spain, New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, Brazil, Jamaica, and more of my own country.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

BRUSSELS SPROUTS! I had never had them my whole childhood, then one day recently I decided to try making them and now I am obsessed and crave them every day! Baked w/ some olive oil, salt + pepper, with a melted earthbalance + lemon juice mixture drizzled over top. I also love bananas, fresh juice, potatoes, mangoes, steamed cauliflower, roasted seaweed, artichokes, vegan ramen, Indian food (especially aloo gobi), Chinese food, veggie sushi (someone help me with that! It's so hard to find around here!), coconut ice cream, any kind of soup, dave's killer bread, cashews, I could go on, but basically I just love food :P

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

{{MAGAZINES}}: VegNews, Mindful, Natural Health, Natural Awakenings (local), Fitness; {{BOOKS}}: The Everything Vegan Wedding Book (I'm planning my wedding now and this is very helpful!), PETA's Vegan College Cookbook (no matter what you think of PETA, this cookbook is fantastic! 275 vegan recipes. Quick, cheap, and SO easy! No stove or oven needed :D they can all be made in the microwave! Who knew you could make pancakes in a mug??); {{DOCUMENTARIES}}: (all available on Netflix on demand unless stated otherwise) Earthlings (find it on YouTube), Vegucated, Forks Over Knives, Food Inc., FoodMatters, Hungry for Change, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, May I Be Frank (find it on Hulu), and I have lots more recommendations that aren't food-related, just msg me! (I'm a total documentary nut).
