More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Saving the planet, the animals, and my body, one bite at a time. Veganism intersects with allied struggles against other forms of oppression and domination. Living vegan helps one to set an example of harmony and peace for a better tomorrow.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

To help travelers connect with delicious and healthy food around the world. Also hoping to make more vegan connections and friends!

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I've liked pretty much everywhere I've gone, and have been fortunate to see many places. I'm endeavouring to experience as much as possible in the 100 or so years I should be here.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I generally kick things old school, eating a whole-foods plant-based diet of beans, lentils, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, seeds, and nuts.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

So many! Health-related: books and other publications/videos by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn; Dr. John McDougall; Dr. Neil Barnard; Dr. Michel Greger. See nuritionfacts.org for a short-cut with lots of good and short videos on a variety of topics. Ethics: Animal Liberation by Peter Singer, his more recent books etc. Sherry Kolb's Mind if I Order the Cheeseburger highly recommended (not only on ethics, but other topics as well). Environment and Climate Change: well the Worldwatch Institute isn't a bad place to start: http://www.worldwatch.org/node/6294. Also take a look at John Robbins' The Food Revolution in addition to his other publications. Cookbooks: Chef AJ's books; you'll also find many recipes in Dr. Fuhrman's books, the Forks Over Knives cookbooks, so many good sources in print and online.
