Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

While I prefer to eat vegan for moral and ethical reasons, this is not always possible with my current work life. I travel about half of the month and when at home I care for several dogs, 1 cat and a chicken and a home with a large yard. So time at best is limited. Unfortunately I have had to incorporate some milk and egg products but look forward to the day when I can resume pure vegan. My dogs,cat/chicken do consume non vegetarian sources.

Because of my travels, I was brought to Happy Cow via internet while in Alaska on an overnight stay. I wanted to find a vegetarian place to eat close to the hotel and luckily found this site.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

While I prefer to stay home, I would prefer this home to be a rural setting either in the U.S.: somewhere out west. My favorite states are New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Montana, etc. I have been to all the above but live currently in Tennessee. I grew up in Brazil and will one day retire there in a rural area like Minas Gerais for 6 months out of the year. However prior to that, I will exchange my current Tennessee address for a western state. I would like to spend half of the year in the U.S. and half in Brazil and travel randomly for a month out of the year.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Breads: baguettes, olives, olive oil, hummous, veggies like celery, carrots, beets, potatoes, (all varieties) Southwest style beans and tortillas, Black beans, red beans and rice (Brazilian style with farofa) Tropical fruits: mangoes, bananas, avocados, tomatoes. All foods tempered with a mediterranean sauce of garlic and onions.
