More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Started becoming aware of foods effecting my body at fifteen and after the early twenties took me back to eating clean and organic, I notced I felt better and better the more I kept away from animal based foods. Having educated myself over the years, I am able to be vegan with an experience with cooking and having a passion for food, experimenting, and challenging, not only my palette, but intriducing it to others as well, not speciafically as "vegan," but as another food that tastes amazing.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

Freelance artist and makeup artists drive all over the place, so I wanted to always know where there was a place to grub no matter where I was.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I live in Los Angeles, one would expect the vegan foods to be oversaturated in this city of "health" "health" and "image," but NYC takes the lead with their bakeries, cafe's, restaurants and less pretentious aspect parts of the vegan sub culture. People just like it because the NYC'ers are making some slammin food. Especially, my new love, Vegan Divas in Manhattan. Amazing pasteries, super cute store front, and lovely energy. In Los Angeles, hands down, in Studio City, Sun Cafe and Follow Your Heart.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Coconut blueberry raw/vegan ice cream, Raw Lasagna, cheesecake, tarts, pastries, donuts, burritos, french cuisine, sushi, pizza, smoothies, and mock eel! If it still exists, I recommend a sushi place in Burlington, Vermont (if it's still there), vegan sushi options and the mock eel is mostl likely the bow down of all bow downs to replicating texture, taste, and exceeding the real thang.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

recipe books that helped me in the beginning; Follow Your Heart soups. This book taught me about knew vegetables I wasn't aware of and gave me the oppportunity to grow my taste palette, so that when I eat out, I really can sit down and have a relationship with what I'm eating and what it's doing for my body. This may not happen to you or anyone else, but it did it for me. Pay attention to everything!
