Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

When I first began to cut dairy, eggs, and red meat from my diet I was suffering from digestive problems and numerous food sensitivities. My naturopathic doctor put me on a "cleanse" and I hoped that removing these items from my diet would help me to feel better but I never anticipated just how great I would feel. Prior to that I'd often considered about adopting a vegetarian diet, because I've always loved animals, but thought I could never go vegan because I was obsessed with cheese. After cutting dairy while on the cleanse I realized that nothing was stopping me from going vegan and I finally made the switch. Now I maintain a vegan lifestyle for the animals, I just have the added bonus of feeling better physically too.

I joined HappyCow to discover new vegan and veg-friendly restaurants. I also hope to share information that others in my area might find helpful.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I lived in Toronto for ten years and loved it. I wish I'd been a vegan at the time as there are so many vegan friendly restaurants there! I occasionally indulge in an all included vacation in the Caribbean, but what I would really love to do is travel Europe or Asia someday.

Favorites, that's tough! I'd say just about anything that falls under the category of Mexican food. Mmmm tacos! Aside from Mexican food,I've always loved "comfort foods". I like to make/eat hearty soups, stews, pasta dishes and casseroles. I eat my share of fresh fruits and vegetables too - I keep a garden during summer months and enjoy having apple and cherry trees in my yard.

Presently no favorite films or books are coming to mind so instead I thought I'd list some of my favorite activities. I enjoy photography, and often carry my camera around with me. I love to spend time in the woods, going for hikes or walks. I also like to garden and make pies and preserves from the fruits that grow in my yard.
