Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I've been vegetarian for most of my life and vegan off and on. I'm currently a vegetarian, but I'm very selective about the dairy and eggs I consume. (small farm & free-range) I'm lucky to live in an area where I can buy things directly from the farmer. I've been vegetarian for so long, I don't think about it much, and it always surprises me when someone thinks it's unusual. In general, I enjoy quality, homemade food - I stay away from most processed food. I'm not militant about it though, I have been known to eat a store-bought cookie now and then. ;)
