More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I went vegan for a variety of reasons, which seem to keep growing the more I read up and learn new things. It all began when I developed lactose intolerance a few years back and also became curious about how my diet affects my hypothyroidism (supposedly considered as a non-reversible side effect of going through radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroidism that requires lifelong medication). Even though my own health was what got me curious, the reasons for making the change and committing to it go beyond that. Now they lie more around the issues of animal cruelty and environmental impact.

I joined HappyCow Members Community because:

I found so many new and fantastic places that I wanted to contribute as well!

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I really enjoyed Malmö and Copenhagen. Japan will always have a special place in my heart as I am half Japanese and spent many spring+summer holidays growing up there.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

I absolutely LOVE the Oatly products, Nakd bars, homemade mapo tofu with diced mushrooms instead of meat, sushi with mango+avocado+oyster mushrooms (cooked in garlic+sesame oil)+spring onion, raw cacao+peanut butter dessert from Rawdish in Luxembourg (DROOOL)... the list really could go on

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I'm currently reading Kim-Julie (Brussels Vegan)'s ebook "The Practical Vegan". It's a great book for someone new to the vegan lifestyle with each chapter resembling a phase in changing/transitioning. Highly recommended!
