More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I've had vegetarian tendencies for years, but last summer I read Will Tuttle's World Peace Diet and cut meat out entirely. This summer, I listened to the audiobook version while on a road trip and made the jump to vegan. Question is, if I get through WPD again, will I cut food from my diet altogether? Go fruitarian or raw?
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
My omnivorous wife introduced me to the app (and therefore the community). Turns out she's been using it as her secret weapon to find restaurants I'll like since I went veggie. When I made the vegan leap, she showed me the app and told me I'm on my own.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
LOVED: Anguilla, Martinique, Pittsburgh, Austin, San Francisco, Grand County Colorado, Paris, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Ireland (all of it), Montreal, Barcelona. TBD: India, Nepal, Thailand
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Just about anything southern Indian...love that spice!
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
**work in progress** Movies about the food conspiracy: Fed Up, Cowspiracy, Forks Over Knives, Food Inc, Vegecated, Hungry For Change, Plant Pure Nation, Foodmatters, Super Size Me

Hi Jaiprem
Just wanted to see how you are going being Vegan? I took the step as well, so am having withdrawals from Camembert cheese! My beloved is supportive even though he eats dairy and meat etc which is gr8.

Hi Jaiprem!
Firstly I hope you have a fabulous time in Canada with your beloved! How fantastic! I am restless now!
Sounds like you have pretty much stayed on the "vegan track" which is great, congratulations! Cheese is a big one for me too and well I thank the divine every day for actually liking a particular nutritional yeast which gets me through those desperado times. Here vegan produce is expensive. Australia is starting to make their own vegan brands but are still at little slow on the uptake, or maybe I just haven't discovered them yet! Some replacements for me don't work well and others do so its a little bit of trial and error to start with. Nothing worthwhile is easy I suppose. Ciao for now!
