Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I eat vegetarian because it is economically wise for the earth and where I live in Africa one can never be sure where or how the meat has been prepared. I have been a vegetarian for many years (almost 30) I also think that eating mindfully creates more spiritual awareness and one becomes kinder in thought and action.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I have a guest lodge in Kenya and I believe we are the only Vegetarian guest house in East Africa. I want travellers to Kenya to know that we have a full vegetarian menu and would like to encourage people to also enjoy some of the African veggie cuisine.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
Bali, Singapore, Lebanon, and Peru are my favourite countries for food, Lima is a well hidden secret and Singapore and Bali are really food capitals. I come from Lebanon and love the Mezzeh and Houmous dishes, with Tabbouleh being the jewel in the crown of salads!!
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Tabbouleh,Hommous, Dal with Persian rice,Lentil based cottage pie,any salad that is organic and fresh.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
I have so many that it is hard to list.....my recent one was the "Book of Negroes" which was an eyeopening read. I also do interior design from reclaimed woods and discarded frames from houses so I do a lot of reading on design and interiors.
