About:
Live and let live. Why should others be deprived of their right to live out their natural lives when they did us nothing wrong and rather be left alone. Hunting and exploitation of animals was part of our evolution from mainly vegetarian species, but so was slavery, pillage and conquest, which are no longer considered normal practice, even with what is happening in troubled spots of the world right now. It was the ability to grow vegetarian food on mass scale that ended the Stone Age and built the pyramids. We are not carnivores who cannot survive without raw meat, and we eat it cooked essentially to please our senses. I have found amazing substitutes for most of meaty and cheesy things I used to love, as well as great tasting vegetables and dishes I didn't know about, so it seems clear to me that consuming animals and fish is not necessary and with 7,000,000,000 humans is no longer sustainable environmentally. We may have evolved to kill and eat flesh, but it is time for a next logical step in our evolution to stop killing and stop eating it. All we need is more options for people to get great tasting vegan food, so that they could make a switch and feel that they and the world have gained and not lost. Though I don't adhere to a religion, I consider it an essential part of the evolution of humans as ethical species, and applaud the Seven Day's Adventists, Jains, Buddhists and others who made the same choice that I have made, essentially for the same reason. Live and let live.

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

Live and let live

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

I haven't travelled much, but would love to when I finally find the time, using Happy Cow's density of vegan places as a guide.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Sweet (kumara) or ordinary diced potato cooked in microwave for 10-15 minutes and then sprinkled with virgin sunflower oil and salt. The simplest dish and yum! Pasta (small pieces preferable) boiled together with Sea Spaghetti (sea vegetable Himathalia Elongata) for 10-15 minutes then drained and mixed with precooked sliced tofu or vegetarian mince (slightly browned up in a microwave for 5-7 minutes) then mixed together with diced vegan cheese (the good brands that taste like the real thing) and further cooked in microwave for 2 minutes, then sprinkled with soy and hot chilli sauce. Yum! Replace the pasta and sea spaghetti with whole grain rice or lentils (vegan cheese optional) and you've got another delicious combination. All the above accompanied by toasted real rye sourdough or pumpernickel bread dipped in tomato sauce and sliced raw vegetables like bell papers, onion, cucumbers (small) dipped in salt. All washed down with cold spring water (dark beer optional). In additon vegan sausages or bacon or ham (again the good brands close to or better than the real thing - some pre-grilled in an oven) dipped in English mustard. Or dice them up and use in place of tofu and mince. Yum.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

I prefer history and science books like Space Race by Debora Cadbury and Bing Bang by Simon Singh, though some history or biography books you need to take with a grain of salt, and some science books do not make sense.
