More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
Compassion. And health and concern for the environment, etc etc. But compassion is enough.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
Love the restaurant listings. Always happy to meet like-minded others.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
I love the Monterey and SF bay areas, as much for the climate as the culture. I love Ireland, and other cold parts of Europe. I want to move back to Santa Cruz or maybe Portland; ready for a change from my home town of LA, even though it has a lot of great things going for it.
Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:
Saag tofu, Panang, lentils 'n' rice with fried onions (vegan comfort food), burritos.
Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:
Even though a some of its recipes are not veganizable, I highly recommend Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian. Mark's style of cooking makes it so simple to make great vegan dishes. My experience with vegan cookbooks is that the recipes and directions can be very complicated and daunting. Bittman has a minimalistic style that I find very comforting and encouraging.
