More About Me

Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:

I recently decided to transition from vegetarian to vegan and the difference in how I feel is unbelievable. I had no idea that the dairy and eggs that I was eating were responsible for so many of my health maladies. Eating vegan allows you to establish a new relationship with your food, to understand what it really means to "feel good", and to know that you are no longer contributing to the suffering of animals.

Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:

My favorite place (that I have visited) is Medford, Oregon. I also love, Orange Beach, AL. All of my other favorite places are parks: Cloudland Canyon State Park, GA; Monte Sano State Park, AL; Stout Grove, CA; Lower Table Rock, OR. Places I REALLY want to visit: The Oregon coast, Northern Washington, Banff National Park, The Smithsonian Museums, Southern Ireland.

Some of my favorite veg*n foods include:

Gardein: Beefless Tips, Mandarin Orange Chicken, and fishless fillets. Tofurky: Oven Roasted Santa Fe Style Vegan enchiladas, Spaghetti, steamed broccoli, oranges, pineapple, Fried chicken fingers and onion rings from Go Vegetarian Restaurant in Georgia.

Here are some books, movies, magazines, and my favorites that I would recommend to other HappyCow members:

Books: Beg by Rory Freedman, I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going To Eat It Anymore by Christina Pirello, I Can't Believe It's Not Meat (a cookbook) by Roger, Diana and Monty Kilburn

HappyCow has been very helpful to me!
Thanks to the site, I recently explored a new health food store and a farmers market.
The transition from vegetarian to vegan is going well, and I am very grateful for HappyCow. Thank you for making such a wonderful resource and an accessible site.
I will be here frequently, and look forward to meeting others on the site.
