Vegetarian since i'm a yoga teacher I am vegetarian only since 6 months, since I did my Yoga Teacher Training course last summer. People already looked strange at me for using all of my vacation days on a yoga teacher training course. When I came back and told people I don't eat meat anymore, they looked at me like I have been brainwashed. People seem to have difficulties with spirituality, respect for nature, awareness, etc. I try not to let it bother me, but still, getting comments all the time is not nice.. Does anyone else have this problem? Post Date: 08/25/15, Replies: 3
Self Fulfillment Through Nature Anyone living near Dartmouth Massachusetts and Interested in becoming involved with organic gardening & sustainable living practices based on vegan principles ??? Welcoming those interested in forming a way of sustainable independent living by respecting and harmonizing with nature. I am located in dartmouth Ma, and am going to transform a two acre property with several greenhouses into a veganic permaculture model. I pretty much have every thing I need to do this and would like to get others involved with it at no expense to them. The gardens and their enjoyment with all the produce from them will be for the use of those involved with the hope for others to follow. Whether you do not have the space to do this yourself and would like to get involved for the use of it or if you would like to get involved and follow the model on your own space with the help of others, what ever good reason you may think of come get involved. There will be many different areas on the land for summer gardening and lots of space in the greenhouses for winter gardening. Be a part of achieving self fulfillment thru nature! Me Performing 100 Yoga Poses www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5SH4wNZmtU Hi everyone! I was originally inspired to try yoga through the yoga charts and yoga videos that I saw on-line, so I decided to make a YouTube video in hopes of inspiring some more people to get into yoga :) I perform 100 different postures in this video and I also provide the names of all 100 poses so it will hopefully be educational as well as inspirational ;) I want to say that I strongly believe that promoting yoga is an overlooked way of promoting veganism! (Show me the person who has been doing yoga on a regular basis for years who still eats Big Macs and hotdogs, or who's an alcoholic, or who feels that they have "enemies" in this world.) When you get into yoga you become aware of a certain concept which is usually referred to as, "What goes around comes around." and you quikly realize that if it is your desire to have peace and happiness in your life you should never intentionally prevent others from having peace and happiness in theirs and many yogis understand that this concept goes for innocent animals as well, and even those yogis that do still eat meat they are probably eating FAR less than the average person. (When a person gets into yoga they just tend to gravitate towards more of a plant based diet.) In so many other forms of fitness (especially bodybuilding and virtually any form of "competitive" sport" out there) there is such a strong belief by many who are involved in them that they need to eat lots and lots of protein because they are athletes and they workout, but again, show me the person who says "I do yoga so I have to eat meat in order to get enough protein..." I can´t imagine someone actually saying and meaning that... I also want to say that almost half of these poses are poses that I just came up with when filming this project. I've been doing yoga for years and have never really thought of new poses before, but for some reason once I started this project I was thiking of new yoga poses without even trying to and I was happening so often that I kept waking up in the middle of the night and turning the light on so I could draw poses that were just popping up in my mind. I hope that some of these new poses will find their way into yoga charts, yoga classes, and individual person's routines. For anyone curious, the yoga poses in this video that I came up with were... * King Lotus Pose * Medievel Pose * Frozen Lotus * Walrus Pose * Baby Dragon In Egg Pose * Flower Blooming Pose * Seashell Pose * Yin Yang Pose 1 * Yin Yang Pose 2 * God Pose * Devil Pose * Upsidedown Goddess Pose * Balance Pose * Tangled Roots Pose * Tangled Roots Leaning Towards The Sun Pose * Tangled Tip Toe Pose * Intense Stretch On Tip Toes * Wheel Pose On Fingers And Toes * Bow And Arrow Pose 2 * Warrior Pose 4 * Lightning Headstand * Temple Pose * Straightjacket Pose * Corpse Pose In Rigor Mortis * Head To Knee Pose Intense Stretch * Master Of Puppets Pose * Standing On Your Hands While Doing A Backbend * Headstand In Hell Pose * Fight Or Flight Pose * Caught In A Web Pose * Severed Limbs Pose * Space Travel Pose * Infinity And Beyond Pose * Unicorn Pose * Sun Worship Pose * One Hand Pose * Energy Circulation Pose * Mosquito Pose * Standing Hands To The Floor With Arms Crossed * X Handstand * Balancing Diamond Pose * Castle Drawbridge Pose * Once Continuous One Pose * Court Jester Headstand I almost don´t feel right saying that I ¨thought¨ of these poses, because there was absolutely no thinking involved. They just showed up in my mind and since I performed them the best that I could. The vegan diet has completely transformed my life and this video is just one example of the many transformations that I have experienced all while being 100 vegan. Post Date: 05/26/15, Replies: 2

You must not kill any living being for the You must not kill any living being for the sake of your food. The killing is the greatest sin You must not kill any living being for the sake of your food. God has given enough vegetable food that contains all the ingredients present in the non-vegetarian food. After all, the source of ingredients of any flesh is only vegetable kingdom only. Eating the non-vegetarian food is not a sin because same ingredients exist in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods. But, you have to kill a living being for the sake of non-vegetarian food. The killing is the greatest sin. You may argue that you have not killed the living being directly. Such argument cannot stand. Since you are eating the non-vegetarian food, the living being is killed. You are responsible for its killing. Therefore, you are the principle shareholder of the sin. There is nothing wrong if you eat a living being after its natural death. In Hinduism, there is a sect of people called ‘Kapalikas’, who eat the dead living beings. Therefore, they do not acquire sin. The tsunami is always due to anger of God since you are killing the living beings present in water for food. The earthquakes are due to killing of living beings that exist on the earth. God in the form of Buddha and Mahavir preached the non-violence and severely opposed the killing of living beings. God in some other human forms might have followed the practice of non-vegetarian food in order to join with non-vegetarian people so that, certain other higher aspects to be preached might have been taken into consideration. That does not mean that God has encouraged the killing of living beings through non-vegetarian food. He might have kept silent on this issue in order to give importance to other serious issues. God follows the ignorance of the students in order to become friendly with them. To control a running bull, you have to run along with it for some distance before controlling it. All these are the basic concepts of nivrutti, which are the core of pravrutti. By following the ethics of pravrutti, you will avoid God becoming furious with you. Then, through nivrutti, you can please God. On one hand, you are making God furious by not following the ethics of pravrutti and how can you please God through nivrutti simultaneously? www.universal-spirituality.org Universal Spirituality for World Peace Post Date: 08/27/14, Replies: 3

Buddhist Scriptures On Vegetarianism The Pali Canon is permeated with Suttas (Sutras) that espouse the virtues of not killing or causing to kill. “Monks, one possessed of three qualities is put into Purgatory according to his actions. What three? One is himself a taker of life, encourages another to do the same and approves thereof. Monks, one possessed of three qualities is put into heaven according to his actions. What three? He himself abstains from taking life, encourages another to so abstain, and approves of such abstention.” Anguttara Nikaya, 3.16 “All beings tremble before danger, all fear death. When a man considers this, he does not kill or cause to kill. All beings fear before danger, life is dear to all. When a man considers this, he does not kill or cause to kill.” Dhammapada, 129-130 “Whereas some ascetics and Brahmins, feeding on the food of the faithful, remain addicted to the enjoyment of stored-up goods such as food, drink, clothing, carriages, beds, perfumes and meat, the ascetic Gotama refrains from such enjoyment.” Brahmajala Sutra, Digha Nikaya In the following verse, the Buddha describes the only thing that should be killed: “What is the one thing, O Gotama, whose killing you approve? Having slain anger, one sleeps soundly; having slain anger, one does not sorrow; the killing of anger, with its poisoned root and honeyed tip: This is the killing the nobles ones praise, for having slain that, one does not sorrow.” Samyutta Nikaya, chapter 2 In the following verses, we find more direct causal connections to refrain from meat eating in the Theravada Pali Canon: ". . . he abstains from killing living beings, exhorts others to abstain from killing living beings, and speaks in praise of the abstention from killing living beings." Samyutta Nikaya 55.7 "He should not kill a living being, nor cause it to be killed, nor should he incite another to kill. Do not injure any being, either strong or weak, in the world.” Dhammika Sutta, Sutta Nipata, Khuddaka Nikaya "Monks, possessing forty qualities one is cast into purgatory . . . he takes life himself, encourages another to do so, approves of taking life, and speaks in praise of thereof . . ." Anguttara Nikaya 10. 213 Four ways one can break the precept of killing living beings: 1. One kills living beings by one's own hand 2. One asks another to do it 3. One grants permission to another to do it or allows it or approves of it 4. One speaks in praise of killing (Note that receiving alms food according to the 3 fold rule appears to allow for meat for those who are in the monastic Orders, but not for lay people who must make a request or order at the grocer, butcher, or restaurant.) (from Majjhima Nikaya, Anguttara Nikaya, book of tens V.305) The above quotes show that is not just okay to not do the killing yourself, it is also unacceptable to encourage another, approve of another's killing, or speak in praise of it, such as defending the eating of meat. In numerous places in the Pali Canon, the Buddha or one of his chief disciples reports about seeing ghostly type beings who are suffering as a “skeleton” or a “piece of flesh” or another woeful existence and being tormented by crows and other animals. The Buddha reports that these beings are suffering in these states because of a past life as a butcher of cattle or pigs or sheep (Samyutta Nikaya 19.1, Vinaya, Suttavibhanga 3.105). Although they were doing the actual killing, who would do the killing if everyone were Buddhist? Since there can be no slaughterhouses if everyone were Buddhist, at the very least, vegetarianism can be seen as an ideal to strive for. In one (Pali Canon) discourse (Majjhima Nikaya 22, snake similie sutta), the Buddha gives 10 analogies to describe how bad attachment to sense desires can be. He compares attachment to sense desires with ten really bad things. This includes things such as a skeleton, a burning torch that is about to burn our hands, and a poisonous snake. The final analogy the Buddha makes to describe something very bad, is that of a slaughterhouse. He used the description of a slaughterhouse as one of the analogies to describe something bad (Majjhima Nikaya 22). The first precept in both the Mahayana and the Theravada is not to kill or cause to kill any living being. The above quote from the Sutta Nipata clearly states not causing the killing of any being, nor inciting another to do so.. Post Date: 08/19/14, Replies: 18

Jesus's dietary status I just heard a proclomation that "Christ was vegan" on the Go Vegan Radio show. I had heard from other sources in the past that the government covered up Jesus's vegetarianism. Have others heard of this? It makes sense that he would have been avegetarian condering "Thou shat not kill" is a commandment. It also is conceivable that the governmetn and meat/fish industry would want to have a fact such as this omitted. Post Date: 04/07/14, Replies: 21
Food For the Gods I recently read a book Called "Food For the Gods". It discussed the concept of vegetarianism in various religions. I learned that many religious founders and leaders were vegetarian and a lot of religious texts have been changed by priests who ate meat. For example, it is sometimes told that Buddha died from eating undercooked meat when in fact it was a poisonous mushroom because he did not eat meat. It is also said that Jesus ate meat and fish when he was actually a vegetarian. Post Date: 02/04/14, Replies: 3
Why do people attack my sensitivity? I have always felt compassion for animals and people, but when I talk about how sad I felt when a deer was killed or what good veggie dishes there are to eat, many times people will either tease me, mock me or brag about how much meat they like. Why? This even happens with family, really 'nice' people as well as others. I do not tell anyone they need to do as I do; I hope they will, but I never lecture. Post Date: 01/19/14, Replies: 12
How do you cope with meat eating society? I've been a vegetarian for over 4 years now and I can't look at people that eat meat the same way as before I turned into a vegetarian. My closest friends, my parents and all my relatives are meat eaters and I started despizing them for their ignorance and cruelty towards animals. I tried to talk some sense into them but it was a waste of my nerves. Many hide behind their bible (apparently a book that has all the answers). I know I was like them for most of my life but nobody had to convince me to become a vegetarian. If you care to listen, if you open your mind, you can't ignore all the cruelty around you and you'll remember that you still have a heart. How can you look at these people without being desgusted? Can you still show them respect and be friends with? I dont think so! The only solution would be to make new friends. Find people who share the same values and ignore the rest? But what if you live in a small town, where everybody is a meat eating freak and you can't get out of it because of your financial situation? I'd like to know how you guys are dealing with such issues. Post Date: 01/16/14, Replies: 11
Please do not waste food!! Please do not waste food!! Veda says that even a single particle of the food should not be wasted Donation is very dangerous like double edged knife. Donating to undeserving persons is very big sin and not mere wastage. Today, if you see the feast of a marriage function, you will find most of the plates after feast are full of food items leftover. When you throw this food, it becomes a source for bacteria and virus, which may harm even good people in the society. Thus, the people, who have thrown the food, become sinners. The owner of feast, who gave this expensive food to them is also another sinner and will be punished by the divine law. Both doer and promoter are equally punished (Kartha karaiyitaa chaiva...). Finally the married couple is also affected. Veda says that even a single particle of the food should not be wasted (Annamna parichak[censored]a...). Once, in a function, the people were wasting food and the beggars on the other side were searching for the food in the leaves thrown away after the feast. One devotee asked Bhagavan Shri Satya Sai Baba like this, “O Swami! What is this! In your creation I find people throwing food on one side and people searching for the thrown food on the other side”. Bhagavan Baba replied “Those beggars were also rich in the previous birth and threw the food like these rich people. They are now born as beggars and are searching for the food thrown by them in the past”. Therefore, the minimum eligibility of the receiver of food is: not to throw even an iota of food. SPIRITUAL REINCARNATION Tuesday, January 6, 2009 Spiritual ReIncarnation Lectures since 1993 Like all reincarnation, we have crossed paths many times with each other..everyone in this world. The one's that you connected with and/or have been involved with are more likely the most recent past life with or had a very strong connection from your past lives. We reincarnate in many living forms from human, to cow, to twig, to rock, etc. It takes a while for us to be reincarnated in human forms but because this earth is quite old and have been around for a very long time, we had many times to be reincarnated in human forms a few many times. However, being an old soul, it means I have been reincarnated in human forms not only many times, but much more times than an average human so basically right after another a few million times. ***Monk update Jan.2009 in Vancouver, BC Canada**************** Monk had pointed out that by practicing a herbivore lifestyle will grant us a higher chance of being reincarnated into human form than any other form especially animal because by eating animal products, you will harbour those animal energy permitting you to reincarnate as that particular animal or animals. Being a herbivore will reincarnate us more as a piece of grass or vegetable? Highly doubt it as Plant life are in a different plane of energy than human and animal forms. Plant life is a pre-mature of a full structure of the life tree. Animals and humans are full fledge top pyramid of life where we have graduated to the top of full growth. Why people are so uncivilized! Firstly, please excuse me for my English because English is my second language. Ok, I visit gardenweb forum very often and I wanted to stop people from using barbaric glue traps and many other cruel ways to kill small animals when these animals enter their homes and gardens. I posted links to show many humane way of solving problem with creatures but I end up getting hateful messages because they much rather to use torture traps and poison to kill creatures. How can we make these primitive uncivilized people to get civilized like true human? They call mice, rats, and many other creatures pest but they are precious gift from God who deserve freedom, happiness, and our protection. How many of you agree with me? How can we change people who have no love and respect for God's little creatures? They said we must kill creatures as quickly as possible to protect us from getting diseases and destroying our houses and gardens. I don't have patient with barbarians. UK new veggies Hi, I'm looking to find a group of people of like-minded people who are interested in new and old age spirituality and who also happen to be vegetarian. We are not in your face about being veggie, we're just tired of being the only ones who think misusing power over animals is wrong, and far from spiritual enlightenment. This is a group for people interested in the new age, shamanism, 2012, reiki, paganism, angels etc. etc. who want to live thier beliefs and who also know that animals are our equals (and often our betters). Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Envir The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues. The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature. Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment. Subject : In a fast society slow emotions become extinct. Subject : A thinking mind cannot feel. Subject : Scientific/ Industrial/ Financial thinking destroys the planet. Subject : Environment can never be saved as long as cities exist. Emotion is what we experience during gaps in our thinking. If there are no gaps there is no emotion. Today people are thinking all the time and are mistaking thought (words/ language) for emotion. When society switches-over from physical work (agriculture) to mental work (scientific/ industrial/ financial/ fast visuals/ fast words ) the speed of thinking keeps on accelerating and the gaps between thinking go on decreasing. There comes a time when there are almost no gaps. People become incapable of experiencing/ tolerating gaps. Emotion ends. Man becomes machine. A society that speeds up mentally experiences every mental slowing-down as Depression / Anxiety. A ( travelling )society that speeds up physically experiences every physical slowing-down as Depression / Anxiety. A society that entertains itself daily experiences every non-entertaining moment as Depression / Anxiety. Fast visuals/ words make slow emotions extinct. Scientific/ Industrial/ Financial thinking destroys emotional circuits. A fast (large) society cannot feel pain / remorse / empathy. A fast (large) society will always be cruel to Animals/ Trees/ Air/ Water/ Land and to Itself. With wisdom comes knowledge. With wisdom comes knowledge, with knowledge comes responsibility. In the days of the "Old Church" many laws were given for the believers to follow. They were, if I may use the term, "Baby Steps". Many of the laws of old we are not held accountable to today. With the coming of Christ and the death and Resurrection of Christ the world changed. And when the world changed many of the rules changed. The basics did not and will not ever change. That would basically be the Ten Commandments. But the law of baptism was establish. The laws of animal sacrifice change. Along with many others. In the days of the Old Church we had no twelve apostles, no Christ at the head of the Church. The Spirit of Christ, ( the Holy Ghost ) was not given as a constant companion to man. It was all a normal family could do to provide for their family to survive. There was only so much farmland a man could plow and plant and harvest. There was not the means of preserving the produce of the field that we have today. Using wild game and even some domestic animals to survive during the off season was an necessity. Even in the days of my grandfather and my father produce was not a commodity that could be relied upon during the off season. It is very easy to see why they hunted and subsidized their diets with meat draining the winter months. If you know anything of the old Celtic Tribes you will know that when they killed an animal to use it for food the would say a prayer for and to the animal. Giving thanks and reverence for the beast giving it's all for the survival of the human. The eating of meat has been ingrained into the human for thousands of years. I can see without question how they justified the killing and eating of the beast. In today's world of produce being shipped around the world and delivered fresh a hemisphere away from the field is was grown in we have a greater wisdom and knowledge than they did just a few years ago. My parents did not have the advantage of fresh Santa Claws Melons, and Juan Canary Melons in the middle of the winter as I have. And what fresh produce they did have to select from in the dead of winter was comparative very expensive when measured by today's standards. I can eat fresh fruit twelve month out of the year and find relatively reasonable prices on it. I can have corn on the cob any time I want it. My parents did not have that luxury just fifty years ago when I was a wee lad. I remember just how much my mom and dad really splurged to give me fresh oranges for Christmas every year. As we see the world today and realize that the "Need" for killing animals for food and to survive is drawing to an end it is well that we teach others this principle with respect and understand just as the Christ of the New Testament thought others. One will not unteach the tradition and teaching of the past that have survived for thousands of years over night. One will not teach these gentle truths by beating others into submission. If we are to teach and gain converts we must teach with patience and long suffering. We must have the forbearance and restraint to teach a new way of life. We have gained the wisdom of a "New World". With that wisdom we have gained knowledge. With that knowledge we have gained a responsibility to "Teach" a new way of life. "Teach" being the operative word. One does not teach by force. But by gentle persuasion. One of the greatest gifts that Christ gave to us is "Free Will". If we seek to take away this free will that Christ has given then are we standing not with Christ, but against him? The Ten Commandments yet stand, but Christ will not force anyone to obey these commandments. He will teach, He will persuade, He will lead and teach what is right and correct. He will do not more. He will not take away the free will he has given. Nor do I believe should we. With wisdom comes knowledge, with knowledge comes responsibility. We have a responsibility to "teach". ( this is just my thoughts ) Thank you all. Quasi Post Date: 09/13/12, Replies: 2

Christian Communism supports vegan diet! Checkout this Christian Communism blog, at william-christiancommunism.blogspot. It says: "Once perfect Christian character under God's law and Christ's teachings is achieved, man will be in the position to mercifully control the increasingly dangerous technologies, such as nanotechnology, artificial intelligence/robotics, and genetic engineering, as we advance towards the scientifically prophesied technological singularity, and be in the position to live out the greatly increased life spans these technologies will make possible as death and suffering finally become a thing of the past as prophesied in Revelation 21:3-4. Perfect Christian character will also provide the strength and motivation needed to practice calorie restricted diets, intermittent fasting, and veganism which will always play a necessary part of any technologically engineered lifespan."
