| Polish ready Pope´s Youth Journey in July? Hi. Many of us are non-Catholic, but even so, who lives in Poland (specially in Krakow) must be ready to orient who visit the city in July for the Pope´s World Youth Journey. The Catholic church does not matter on non-human animals, but some veg(etari)an tourists will be there and they need support about how to find vegan food in Poland and escape from the local meatist traps. Further, it is possible to try to present them the possibility of expanding the Christian values of compassion to the other animals. I suggest you who live in Krakow and surroundings get ready to orient these people in both gastrotouristic and theological issues. I will not travel to the Pope´s Journey, but my girlfriend, which is sympathizing with this doctrine, will. Post Date: 01/29/16, Replies: 0 | ||
| IKEA veggie balls We recently went to IKEA and they had a veggie ball meal that was actually pretty good. They were also selling large bags of the veggie balls themselves frozen. I also was able to fine a lot of Beyond Meat products at Walmart. I had been shopping at Whole Foods and a few other expensive places. As much as I dislike shopping at Walmart, they did have good prices and a good selection of products I would use. Post Date: 01/21/16, Replies: 0 | ||

| Fears of starting a plant based Hey! I'm 4 months into a following plant based. I know for myself before I started I was very worried that not eating animal products wouldn't fill me up and was proved wrong once I started or worrying how people will react when we're out to eat. What are your fears that held you back from starting plant based? Or what fears do you have while following plant based? Post Date: 01/14/16, Replies: 2 | ||

| Vegetarian wedding: people are disapponted I'm getting married in a few weeks and while I am super excited to be marrying the lad of my life, there is a small issue that keeps rearing its ugly head: the wedding menu. I've been vegetarian for 13 years. Plenty of time for everyone around me to get used to it. But as we were planning, a startling number of people (my parents included) started remarking on how they would never want to go to a vegetarian wedding and that it's unfair of me to pressure my guests into eating like I do. After all, don't I always get a vegetarian option?? My answer was yes, I get a vegetarian option. That option is ALWAYS an after thought. It's usually white flour pasta which I don't eat anyway. Pair that with the fact that I can eat almost nothing at the cocktail hour, and you've got one hungry guest. I find it hurtful that people including my family, are saying this. Why can't they come to the wedding for the real reason? The love that my fiancé and I have for each other. I never go to a wedding expecting any of my food preferences to be represented. I go to celebrate the couple. Does anyone have any advice on how to respond to these things? I've been sticking to my guns and saying that there will be plenty of amazing things for them to eat, and then I change the subject. Is there a way to make them stop voicing this very rude opinion? | Christmas Sorry if this topic already exist, but least I didn't find one. So, what will you eat this christmas? (: Would be interesting to know and tips for next year. Will you have dinner with non-veg family? Do they ever taste your foods and what do they think of them? Is it hard for you to sit on same table with meats and stuff? We are gonna eat with family who are totally non-veg. Good thing is they're not judgemental at all or push their food to us! Some have tasted seitan previous years and liked it (didn't make it myself :b ). Will be eating seitan roast this year as well. Also smoked tofu and mustard. Mashed potatoes, beet casserole will also be on table and redgabbage-carrot-onion salad. On side peas and green beans. Sweet side will be having gingerbread cookies and chocolate. | Vegan when with family and freinds - HELP! Hi there! I'm an extremely shy person, and struggle to become 100& vegan: My dad is a hunter, my mom loves eggs, my three best friends loves their hamburgers and steak and would never become vegan - they laugh at vegans and vegetarians... My sister however is (luckily) like me - trying to decrease intake of animal products, but she's the only one. And as a norwegian, there are almost NO vegan/vegetarian restuarants. And all traditions contains some sort of animal product or food. And if that wasn't hard enough - fruits and vegetables is EXPENCIVE here in Norway... Is there someone who has been vegan for a long time, with some tips or tricks for me? Thank you! Post Date: 12/15/15, Replies: 6 | ||
| Vegans needed for a student dissertation!! Hello, We are two undergraduate students studying Psychology at the University of Edinburgh. For our final dissertation topic, we are studying the association between personality and dietary choices, specifically the paleo diet, the Atkin’s diet, and gluten-free or vegan diets. The study is in the form of an online survey. Firstly, you will be asked a few questions about their diet - why you follow it, and you commitment to it. After, you will complete a personality questionnaire. The study typically takes 20 minutes. Participation in the study is voluntary but participants will be entered into a draw with the chance to win one of two £20 amazon gift vouchers. We were wondering if you could please take this survey! | Should I study abroad? Hi everyone! So I have been looking into studying abroad for my entire life and now that I am in college I finally have the opportunity. However, I am now vegan and that changes my opinions recently. The dilemma is that I have to choose within the next week if I want to go or not because I have to apply for next semester... I would be going to Seville, Spain and be staying with a host family for about 4 months. Im from the United States so the program I will be working with is going to teach all of the classes in english. However outside of class, I will have to speak completely spanish, which I have no background with. I have never traveled alone or outside of the country before. The thing I am most afraid of though is eating as a vegan. I know the spanish culture surrounds themselves with meat and eggs, so I'm not sure if they will understand my beliefs or if I will be offending them. My school advisor also told me she might be able to find me a vegetarian family but probably not a vegan one. I know it would be a leap to go but I REALLY want to study abroad and may never get the opportunity to go again. IF ANYONE HAS ANY OPINIONS PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU Post Date: 12/02/15, Replies: 4 | ||

| ‘Suitable for vegetarians' Why do most food or drink packages say ‘suitable for Vegetarians’? The definition of vegetarian is someone who abstains from eating meat right? So why do things like bread packaging say ‘suitable for vegetarians’, of course it is- the only thing they don’t eat is a dead corpse, they still drink milk, eat eggs etc. I really wish more packaging would say ‘suitable for Vegans’ because it’s easier than looking for gelatin, or eggs and milk- even if it’s obvious it just gives me a reassurance that the thing I’m eating is Vegan. Anyone have any comments on this topic? Post Date: 11/17/15, Replies: 5 | ||

| Vegan Ecofeminist book Ria was born innately Earth connected, hearing and heeding Her call for healing Her pain, Finally finding her calling midlife, Ria stewards Cascadian forests with full heart, mind and body. But when her brother was murdered she turned to Earth to heal her distress. Now with the murder trial approaching, she’s back in the modern world rehashing it all, lost. Her son Bryan, a hippie world backpacker celebrating life with people in nature, finds his mom lost, paralyzed in grief. He whisks her away to Kauai to escape her worries. Wanting to savor it all, Ria logs reflections of their ‘paradise’ escapades, rediscovering her former dialectical philosophical self. This free form witty critique ensues, not only speaking to the notion of ‘paradise’ but exploring the complexion of a culture lost, trapped in its own unhelpful ways, probing potentiality of a path forward, or backward. In this Age of Anthropocene Earth just entered these are the banished thoughts and feelings of an increasing number, and perhaps the subconscious thoughts and feelings of the rest. This reflection just might be requisite critical thinking of a renewed humanity rising. With today’s real life dystopian rampant gun killings, climate change, etc., this creative collection written in ‘paradise’ before Ria’s brother's murder trial reflects a human culture rising, longing to explore hard topics of personal and world adversities, seeking hope. Seeing and expressing grief and coping with trauma are somehow pulled off with a light enough heart and straightforward enough tone that her words are not only easily digestible but healing. Ria’s personal saga plays out in the context of human and Earth’s saga. Through her philosophical critiques she identifies a distinctive niche. Within steadily growing vegan, ecofeminist, anarchist and primitivist cultures is a subculture located where the four overlap. While Hippie Paradise appeals to anyone interested in the four groups, it may be most appealing to folks at this intersection. This juncture is filled with largely undiscussed controversies in need of airing. For example, dominant thought and practice in primitivism (e.g. ‘circle of life’, hunting, etc.) is contrary to veganism. Is there space to build a philosophical foundation for vegan primitivists? This work exposes some of these inter-subculture conflicts through dialectic questions and thought experiments, serving as a beginning to that conversation. In their escape to paradise this dynamic duo sparks a necessary new discourse in fun yet somber conversation during counter-culture frolic. This creative poetry and prose medley is a sounding of the Anthropocene’s clarion call. www.amazon.com/Hippie-Paradise-EcoFeminists-Hawaiis-Island/dp/1507763808/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447291076&sr=8-1&keywords=hippie+paradise&pebp=1447291079123&perid=1PDB2VC3M9WJ25CRJXFF Post Date: 11/13/15, Replies: 2 |
