Vegan / Vegetarian Discussion - All Things Veg*n Forum

I have occasionally thought about what type of food I would be offered should I ever find myself living in a care/rest home in future years. The food is often grim anyway so what hope for vegetarians and vegans?

A recently established UK charity,Vegetarian for Life (VfL), aims to address these concerns.
Established May 2008, VfL's vision is to improve standards of catering for older vegetarians and vegans throughout the UK in care homes, retirement schemes, hospitals and other services catering for older people.

Their website states that they aim to

'foster understanding of the dietary needs of older vegetarians and vegan

try to ensure ethically acceptable and nutritionally balanced meals are available for all older vegetarians and vegans'.

The charity's activities include the publication of Catering Guides and operating the VfL – UK List of vegetarian-friendly care homes and other caterers for older people who are vegetarian/vegan.

The site includes loads of useful resources for caterers who have a resident/guest who is vegetarian or vegan.
