A Vacation That Gives Back To Homeless Pet Press Release-A Vacation That Gives Back To Homeless Pets Contact-Donna Zeigfinger Green Earth Travel LLC 7 Froude Circle Cabin John Maryland 20818 Phone 301 229-5666 email [email protected] or [email protected] A Vacation That Gives Back To Homeless Pets At The Nation's Largest Animal Sanctuary Take in Grand Canyon vistas and donate your kindness to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the country's largest no-kill refuge for abused and abandoned pets. This unique getaway offers a chance to escape your hectic schedule and engage your heart while you help homeless animals and revel in beauty of the Southwest. This is truly a trip to warm your heart and thrill your senses! Donna Zeigfinger of Green Earth Travel specializes in environmentally friendly travel with a focus on vegetarianism. She wanted to organize a one of a kind excursion where people could share their passion for animal rescue and explore one of the Earth's most beautiful natural wonders. The five day/four night trip she created starts and ends in Las Vegas. A van will shuttle clients from McCarran International Airport to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, located near Kanab, Utah. After an orientation and tour of the facilities, clients will assist Best Friends staff with the daily chores and routines that keep the shelter running and the critters happy. After two days of compassionate volunteering, participants will join Canyon Rim Adventures, leaders in north rim exploration since 1984, to begin a three day, two night guided backcountry adventure. During the Best Friends portion of the trip participants will be staying on site in Angel Canyon, surrounded by stunning scenery similar to that found at nearby Zion National Park. Watch the morning sun wash against the orange and red cliffs, thrill to clear blue-bird skies, and breathe in the beauty of this inspiring locale. Volunteer duties at Best Friends can include (but is not limited to) assisting with feeding, grooming, cleaning living areas, and walking or training those animals looking for adoptive homes. The facilities at the sanctuary are impressive—there's none of the sadness that you might expect from an animal refuge. These dogs, cats, horses, bunnies, and birds all have great homes and loving companions working with them every day—and they can stay as long as they want. There's no time limit at Best Friends. Of course, the goal is to find every pet a forever home—some just take a little longer to find that perfect match. Working with the animals has recharged many a soul. Expect to feel the love and renew your sense of health and happiness. The second half of this vacation starts with a two hour drive from Kanab, Utah to the incomparable Toroweap Overlook of the Grand Canyon. After lunch on the edge of the world, your guides will lead a warm up hike along the slickrock sandstone tableland that marks this section of the canyon's rim country. The length of the hike depends on a number of factors, but most groups run around for at least three hours (roughly four to six miles). Later in the afternoon, after setting up camp away from the rim, the CRA crew will cook up a four-star dinner, and if you're lucky, they might even spin a few yarns by the campfire. Beside their high level of professionalism, their interpretive skills, and their camp cooking skills, Canyon Rim Adventures prides itself on making life in the backcountry easy. And they've got a real shower. The next day of the adventure includes the longest hike of the trip—an all day escape into a beautiful side canyon for a trail lunch and lots of exploring. Like John Wesley Powell himself, the folks at Canyon Rim Adventures believe a real connection with this beautiful landscape can only be forged through physical effort. But don't worry, there will be plenty of time for breathers. The day is filled with explanations of the Grand Canyon's geology, history, pre-history, and ecosystems. The last day starts with camp breakdown, then a drive and short hike to a spectacular panoramic overlook of the junction of the canyon's longest side canyon with the main Colorado River corridor. After lunch on the rim you'll head back out to civilization and a shuttle ride to Las Vegas. Trip dates- May 28-June 1 2008 October 8-12 2008 Trip cost includes: Transfers from the airport to Best Friends, transfers from Best Friends to Canyon Rim, transfers from Canyon Rim back to the airport. 2 nights, 3 days at Best Friends Sanctuary 2 nights, 3 days with Canyon Rim Adventures Meals (all vegetarian): 4 breakfasts ( 2 at Best Friends, 2 with Canyon Rim), 5 lunches ( 2 at Best Friends, 3 with Canyon Rim), 4 dinners ( 2 at Best Friends, 2 with Canyon Rim) Donation to Best Friends All camping gear: including tents, cots, pads, sleeping bags, guides and tours with Canyon Rim Not included: Gratuities for guides, personal items (phone calls, laundry, alcoholic beverages, or any snacks while at Best Friends (Canyon Rim Adventures will provide snacks and meals). Cottage Cabin Single $1,044.00 $954.00 Double $909.00 $864.00 Triple $864.00 About Best Friends Animal Society "Best Friends Animal Society operates the country's largest sanctuary for homeless pets and is home, on any given day, to about 1,500 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds and other animals. Best Friends works globally with animal shelters and rescue groups to bring about a time when there will be no more homeless pets. Best Friends advances initiatives nationwide that promote community approaches to make the world a better place through kindness to animals, including adoption, spay/neuter, and humane education programs."-taken from www.bestfriends.org/aboutus/media About Canyon Rim Adventures, Inc. Based out of Kanab, Utah, Canyon Rim Adventures has been providing guided outdoor vacations on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for 10 years. Their founders have been exploring the area since 1984 and have an intimate knowledge of trails, history, geology, archaeology, flora and fauna. Focusing on service, and providing all camping equipment and prepared gourmet meals, they specialize in sharing the backcountry of the Grand Canyon with their clients. www.canyonrimadventures.com If you would like more information about this trip, please call Donna Zeigfinger, toll free at 1-888-246-8343, or email Donna at [email protected] www.vegetariantravel.com Post Date: 03/03/08, Replies: 0

A Vegan in Paris...with her Non-Vegan BF Help! For my boyfriends birthday he decided to take us to Paris. He currently works as a Baker & previous to this as a Chef, so is very excited about trying French Cuisine and Patisseries. Myself on the other hand am worried I wont be eating for 4 days! I have researched & found some Vegan Cafes, however as its my boyfriends birthday trip & he eats meat I feel reluctant to make him go to purely Vegan places for me. Has anyone had any previous experiences? Ive read online that places are reluctant to alter dishes. What about people Lactose-Intollerances? Would appreciate any suggestions- we go on the 22/08/13, so not long!! Post Date: 03/09/14, Replies: 2

A VEGAN RAW PLACE IN CUSCO THE SEEDS FROM PACHAMAMA In 1987 I started with my first vegetarian services to my community and since there I had seven vegetarian restaurants until 2005, and want to clarify here that in Peru "vegetarian" means "no meat - no animals at all for human consumption". We closed the last one and we maintained resting for a few years. And we decided to restart a new vision in restaurant to do a high quality service for our Cusco and international community with a higher Vegan, Raw and Vegetarian sharing with you. In September 2nd 2012 we reopened for you dear sisters and brothers, and our service will provide high quality meals, of course Vegan, Raw and Vegetarian options. We are also working in the project in producing our own vegetables and other organic products which will come directly to our restaurant and you will not only enjoy, but will also learn about many of the great things that Pachamama can offer to us. We need to make our part stimulating the New Generations to become vegans if we want a better World preserving our beautiful Planet! Beside all this, here you could participate in ceremonies, meditations and many other things that the land of the Inkas can offer to you. All the best and hope to meet you here one day. The location of our restaurant is: SHAMAN RESTAURANT Santa Catalina Ancha, 366-B Cusco – Peru Phones: 0051-984761007, 0051-984760187, 0051-84-261419 [email protected] www.shamancenter.org Beside all this, here you could participate in ceremonies, meditations and many other things that the land of the Inkas can offer to you. A vegan visiting Disneyland Paris...help! My husband and I are visiting Disneyland Paris next month and I'm slightly concerned about our food options! I've been many times as a veggie but this is our first time as vegans. I've tried to do some research online but there isn't much available, and the stuff I did find is not very helpful! Any information would be much appreciated as I don't really want to live on fries for 2 days :-) Post Date: 05/04/14, Replies: 1

Airline vegan food review Copy of what I just sent to Delta: THIS IS FOR THE CATERING COMPANY FOR DELTA #1551 MSP-LAS Thank you for offering a "Vegetarian (Pure)" VGML meal on this flight. However, if I wanted to eat a bland, boring, insipid "grilled veggie sandwich", I could have brought it onto the plane from any number of restaurants in the airport. You should be ashamed of offering this "meal" in first class. Lettuce on a plain whole wheat bun with 2 slices each of zucchini and yellow squash topped off with a slice of grilled red onion. Dry, no condiments, nothing else. "Salad": 10 cherry tomatoes cut in half along with maybe 10 quarter round slices of cucumber covered in some greasy oil (dressing?). I guess the 2 slices of cantaloupe and pineapple were supposed to be "dessert" Pathetic! Here's an idea: Take whatever the non-vegan meal is and make it vegan. So, instead of the ham and cheese sandwich offered to others, you could use vegan ham slices (they exist - go shopping at Whole Foods to see the variety of manufacturers) and vegan cheese slices (such as Daiya). Other choice was some sort of white rice and chicken dish. VERY easy to veganize: brown rice (using vegetable broth) and either Gardein or Beyond Meat grilled "chix" strip/breast. See, no need to use the grilled veggies in either of these entrees. May I suggest to the "chef" in the company that they get a vegan cookbook and use those recipes instead of using the brain-dead, stuck in the '50s ones I got last night for "dinner". I refuse to eat grilled veggie sandwiches in restaurants, and I certainly didn't eat it on the plane. I had a bag of the cranberry blueberry crunch things, about 30 little bags of peanuts and the fruit slices instead. Post Date: 01/03/16, Replies: 2
All inclusive holidays Hi, I am looking to book a holiday next year to celebrate my 40th (with non-veggie hubby & veggie 3 yr old). I have never been on an all inclusive holiday & would like to know if it is a worthwhile veggie option. Will I be eating only salad for 2 weeks?! Any advice would be gratefully received. American vegan travel to London, thoughts? I'm going to London for two weeks, mid December to celebrate my 50th birthday, anyone have any ideas on good/great restaurants? Amtrak vegan meals Apologies if this has been answered but I can't see it in the forums. I'm planning my first trip to the USA and I've read you can now get vegan meals on the trains. Has anyone done this before and are they worthwhile? I assume I'll need to confirm them from Australia via phone, or can you use email? Thanks in advance. Post Date: 03/29/16, Replies: 1
An open invitation to visit me! While I love to travel, I do not do so nearly as often as I'd like to. I've found that almost as nice as traveling myself is to play host and/or tour-guide to cool travelers coming to my area. I know that for me, meeting cool local folks and having them show me what they love about their area is always a highlight of my journeys, so I want to do the same for any of you coming my way. I live in Portland, Oregon, USA. This is a city in the region I like to call Cascadia (basically the US Northwest and Canadian South West) which has many wonderful, extremely vegan-friendly cities and towns. Cascadia also has amazingly beautiful natural areas: ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, raging rivers, islands of many sizes and of course the Pacific Ocean. You can generally travel quite inexpensively in Cascadia and our public transportation systems are convenient and extensive. I have traveled throughout much of the region and am fairly familiar with all of the larger cities as well as many smaller cities and towns and a good number of the natural areas. As for me, I have a wide variety of interests that generally center around travel, being outdoors and eating tasty, healthy (and of course vegan) food. I've met several folks from HappyCow in person already and would greatly enjoy meeting many more of you as time goes on! While I can rarely travel extensively, I am quite often able to free up an afternoon, day or weekend to visit and show you around Portland and other parts of Cascadia! Even if we can't meet up I am happy to answer questions and offer suggestions! Post Date: 05/08/11, Replies: 2
Anaheim, California - Angel Stadium Planning a trip to Angel Stadium this fall. PETA just named it one of the top 10 stadiums for *vegetarian* food. Anyone know if there's vegan food at the stadium? The website is not informative at all menu-wise I HATE ordering something and telling them "leave off the cheese, meat, dressing, mayo etc..." so I try to go only to vegan places, not veg friendly. Or should I just have an early dinner at Loving Hut? :) Post Date: 07/16/12, Replies: 0
Announcing the First Healthy Voyager Tour Healthy Voyager Tours launches this October with the first of many breathtaking trips to come, with the Inca Adventure in association with Fit Tours. Your healthy, special diet, fit adventure takes place in Peru's Urubamba Valley, known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, that lies between Cusco and Machu Picchu. Along the valley are stunning colonial villages where ancient customs live together among impressive Inca ruins. Possessing a special energy, this valley is the perfect place for our first Healthy Voyager Tour where we will explore the varied attractions and rich culture including some of world's best hiking through the Andean Mountains. Incomparable Inca ruins and other remnants of that indelible legacy lie in all directions, easily accessible from our resort. The fertile valley – marked by the Urubamba River and majestic Andes mountains, charming villages, and stunning examples of Inca stonemasonry – is a beautiful, laid-back area attracting visitors interested in renewing, exploring the great outdoors, and enjoying the area's year round splendid weather and lower altitude (2,700 m/8,900 ft, compared to Cusco's 3,400 m/11,000 ft). Nothing but the best for our healthy trip, our accommodations are found in the perfect location. Just down the road from the town of Ollantaytambo – with its remarkable original Inca old town, hilltop ruins and lively market is just 15 minutes away; within a half-hour are the town of Maras, from which travelers can visit the ancient and photogenic Salineras salt mines and the mysterious Inca ruins at Moray. The famed artisans' market and towering Inca fortress in Pisac are just 45 minutes away. Our hiking adventures will include excursions to: The Salt Pans at Maras: This precious commodity has been produced here since before the Inca period. Terraces at Moray: Terraced fields built in the form of an amphitheatre by the Incas and used, according to historians as a centre for experimental agriculture. The Villages of Urubamba, Yucay, Calca, Chincheros and Pisac: Each of which has a special attraction, not only in its architecture but its living culture, indigenous markets and sublime countryside. Village of Ollantaytambo: This is the only place in Peru where people still live in what was once the home of an Inca noble. It is the only village in Cusco which retains the Inca trapezoidal shape. Next to the village is the so-called "Fortress of Ollantaytambo", the last fortified town before Machu Picchu, where the famous Inca architecture can be seen in its entire splendor. Machu Picchu: 120 km from the city of Cusco, Machu Picchu is without doubt one of the few places on earth where not only the works of man take your breath away with their perfection and harmony of shape, but the surrounding countryside is also astonishingly beautiful. What is even more surprising is how the Incas managed to combine architecture and nature in such a way that one complements the other to make an inseparable whole. The greenery of the great mountains act as custodians of the sacred city, the sound of the wind and the river Urubamba in the distance create such energy in Machu Picchu that at its summit you feel quite simply closer to heaven. Built entirely in stone from the natural quarries nearby, the city has two sections: the urban area and the agricultural area consisting of numerous terraced fields. Within the urban zone are palaces, squares and temples with the Pyramid of Intihuatana and the temples at its foot being the most important religious sites in the city. The Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary was declared a Natural and Cultural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983, a double distinction which it shares with few other places. We will climb and explore this incredible site making for a truly unique Healthy Voyager Tour. In addition to the wonderful trips and excursions, we will be dining on the freshest and tastiest local fare. All meals will be vegan and we will have plenty of options for gluten free, diabetic and other special diet travelers. We will be hosting cooking classes as well as specialized fitness classes throughout the trip for an all-encompassing, whole body experience. Any Great Vegan/vegetarian in Baltimore/DC Hi, We are looking for a great vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. Upscaled is preferred with alcohol and/or BYOB, but a hidden gem can be as enticing. Look forward to your suggestions...... Post Date: 06/09/13, Replies: 1
Any really excellent cafes Seattle area? I have been very disappointed in my travels around the SEattle area. This area had been hyped up to me is another vegan haven; not quite Portland, but perhaps a mini Ptd. This so far has been far from the mark. The ones I have been to so far have been fairly apathetic. Chaco was one of the worst places ever; Plum was ok but major drawbacks, and it was listed in a poll recently among the best in the country. I like GLC a lot, but it is a samich/bar, which is great but not quite cuisine. The Chinese places have been bad to awful. I look fwd to trying Araya's and the Nest, but are there any others. I am beginning to distrust the review page since there are many seemingly fake reviews, and others that seem to be wowed that they are veg for the sake of veg. I want good food, I don't get wowed by the fact a place is veg anymore. I think a lot of Seattle folk may never have been outside the area and think all this is great, whereas I think a lot of it is lacking. Any ideas? Faves from those who know? Thanks. I will update too if I find any good ones. Post Date: 11/18/11, Replies: 3
