| Veggie friendly restaurants in Buffalo I'm off to Buffalo, NY for the first time in May and i'm really looking forward to it. Can anybody tell me of any good veggie friendly places to eat? Post Date: 03/29/12, Replies: 0 | ||
| Vegan travelling to Kaliningrad I'm going Kaliningrad, Russia this summer, as a I do every year. However, because I decided to go vegan a few weeks back, I'm not panicking about what I'll be able to eat in Russia this year. I had a hard time as it is trying to politely decline meat the previous years, how am I meant to turn away dairy products and find vegan substitutes without insulting my grandparents who love to cook for me and for me to actually enjoy what I eat? Also, do Russian supermarkets even sell vegan substitutes such as soy milk etc? I've never looked but I'm sure if they do then it's pretty expensive. It would be nice to not have to maintain a raw vegan diet for 6 weeks as I love sweet foods filled with carbs etc Would love some advice on this! Post Date: 02/18/12, Replies: 0 | ||
| Veggie Passport app for smartphones I saw this app advertised on HappyCow and thought it would be handy for an upcoming trip. It was only 99 cents but I'm disappointed that it is not very complete. Essentially it gives you 9 phrases in 33 languages to show to a waitstaff person about your food preferences. My complaint is that some of the phrases attempt to tell the server that you do not want 'milk by-products' and I suspect that many servers might not think of cheese or yogurt when they hear "milk". So many dishes I see have cheese in them. Yes, it isn't a lot of money and it's a good idea to have an app like this, but I can't see why more phrases can't be included and why more detailed phrases can't be provided. Hopefully an update will include some more comprehensive additions! Post Date: 01/22/12, Replies: 3 | ||
| Hotel/B&B/Hostel in Berlin Does anyone know if there are any vegan friendly hotels, B&B's or hostels in central Berlin? Thanks Post Date: 12/28/11, Replies: 1 | ||
| Any really excellent cafes Seattle area? I have been very disappointed in my travels around the SEattle area. This area had been hyped up to me is another vegan haven; not quite Portland, but perhaps a mini Ptd. This so far has been far from the mark. The ones I have been to so far have been fairly apathetic. Chaco was one of the worst places ever; Plum was ok but major drawbacks, and it was listed in a poll recently among the best in the country. I like GLC a lot, but it is a samich/bar, which is great but not quite cuisine. The Chinese places have been bad to awful. I look fwd to trying Araya's and the Nest, but are there any others. I am beginning to distrust the review page since there are many seemingly fake reviews, and others that seem to be wowed that they are veg for the sake of veg. I want good food, I don't get wowed by the fact a place is veg anymore. I think a lot of Seattle folk may never have been outside the area and think all this is great, whereas I think a lot of it is lacking. Any ideas? Faves from those who know? Thanks. I will update too if I find any good ones. Post Date: 11/18/11, Replies: 3 | ||

| Place to rent in Amsterdam Am a working professional (UK), looking for alternatives to the usual accommodation portals. Am a vegetarian; do not smoke/ drink. I do not need to be in the centre. If the place is commutable to Belmar, with a beach or parks to walk, that would be great. Post Date: 11/15/11, Replies: 2 | ||
| Vegan/Vegetarian in Beaumont, TX I live in Liberty County, Texas and most often drive to Houston for delicious vegan fare. I live the same distance to Beaumont and never thought to drive there. I noticed that there is very little, if any vegan or vegan friendly restaurants. Does anyone here have experience with any of the restaurants there? Post Date: 10/30/11, Replies: 0 | ||
| Vegan in Buenos Aires Hi, I'm a vegan currently on a year abroad as part of my university course here (I know lol). Foodwise I'm doing ok so far, but does anyone know where I can buy vegan toiletries? Things like shampoo, soap, toothpaste and make up. Also does anyone know any vegan brands of red wine that are available here? I know this is a long shot but thanks in advance for any replies. Post Date: 10/13/11, Replies: 2 | ||

| Universal CityWalk Orlando, FL So my boyfriend and I are going down to Orlando for the 4th of July weekend to see my family--and also to celebrate my b-day a couple of weeks early. We'll be going to CityWalk on Thursday July 3, and I was checking out the restaurants, and it seems the Bob Marley restaurant might have an option or so. Does anyone know if their Ital dish is vegan? Or if there are other good vegan options there? I refuse to eat at a place that serves foie gras, even if they have options for me, so Emeril's is OUT. Thanks! Post Date: 06/21/11, Replies: 4 | ||

| Phoenix Vegetarian & Vegan grub Hi all, I just wrote a blog post collecting my favorite vegetarian & vegan restaurants in the Phoenix Metro area. I know I probably left some out... Check it out if you're looking for something around Phoenix, or if you think there are any glaring omissions: www.nileguide.com/destination/blog/phoenix/2011/05/26/phoenix-for-vegetarians-a-sampling-of-some-of-the-best-veggie-restaurants-in-the-valley/ Post Date: 05/26/11, Replies: 1 | ||
| Trericket Mill Veggie B&B The Wye Valley Recently stayed a couple of nights at Trericket Mill, a vegetarian b & b plus a bunkhouse and campsite in the Wye Valley mid wales. The b and b is in a beautifully restored mill (grade 2 star listed). The bunkhouse and campsite are situated in an old cider orchard close by the b and b. Trericket Mill is a marvelous b and b, gorgeous building and location, wonderful hosts and fabulous veggie and vegan evening meals available to staying guests (in b and b, as well as in the bunkhouse and campsite, subject to space in their dining room) The breakfasts are great too! My vegan evening meal was absolutely delicious. There's loads to do in nearby areas, canoeing, sightseeing, walking, climbing etc, Hereford and the bookshop town of Hay on Wye. Highly recommended. http://www.trericket.co.uk/index.html Post Date: 05/08/11, Replies: 2 | ||
| An open invitation to visit me! While I love to travel, I do not do so nearly as often as I'd like to. I've found that almost as nice as traveling myself is to play host and/or tour-guide to cool travelers coming to my area. I know that for me, meeting cool local folks and having them show me what they love about their area is always a highlight of my journeys, so I want to do the same for any of you coming my way. I live in Portland, Oregon, USA. This is a city in the region I like to call Cascadia (basically the US Northwest and Canadian South West) which has many wonderful, extremely vegan-friendly cities and towns. Cascadia also has amazingly beautiful natural areas: ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, raging rivers, islands of many sizes and of course the Pacific Ocean. You can generally travel quite inexpensively in Cascadia and our public transportation systems are convenient and extensive. I have traveled throughout much of the region and am fairly familiar with all of the larger cities as well as many smaller cities and towns and a good number of the natural areas. As for me, I have a wide variety of interests that generally center around travel, being outdoors and eating tasty, healthy (and of course vegan) food. I've met several folks from HappyCow in person already and would greatly enjoy meeting many more of you as time goes on! While I can rarely travel extensively, I am quite often able to free up an afternoon, day or weekend to visit and show you around Portland and other parts of Cascadia! Even if we can't meet up I am happy to answer questions and offer suggestions! Post Date: 05/08/11, Replies: 2 | ||
| Vegan Retreat (The Lodge in Grenada) My wife and I were looking for a warm place to vacation during the days between Christmas and New Years and ended up choosing The Lodge in Grenada. It's a roomy two suite establishment that provided an absolutely outstanding experience for us. The owners Mark and Mary were very kind people and made us feel completely at home. They were very helpful with information that allowed us to navigate what Grenada has to offer (don't miss the opportunity to go hiking with Telfor!). The rooms were spotless, large, and comfortable with breathtaking views of St. George's and kept cool by the tradewinds. While the Lodge is a totally vegan establishment, never did these principles overshadow the impeccable service. Their adherence to “eco” sensibilities were seamlessly integrated into the day-to-day running of the site and our experience reflected that; from the sustainable sourcing of ingredients for our meals (which where delicious and varied), to water usage, carbon offsetting, and power consumption. We also found it easy to reach all the local attractions from the site either by walking or through the various bus options. I would not hesitate to recommend The Lodge to anyone planning a trip to the Caribbean, both carnivores and herbivores alike. Post Date: 05/07/11, Replies: 1 | ||
| London Review's I just "added up" Happycow's listings for London, England. There are now 100+ restaurants / cafe's listed - a few are listed as stores but they have cafe's also. Now I can see all of my favorites! What a fabulous city London is! The London area is much easier to navigate now that it is broken up into 7 clearly defined area's. PLEASE guys remember to Review more places / update older Review's after you revisit & munch. There must be another 50+ great restaurants / markets / stores to add.
