I'm a college student working on planning my study abroad adventures for next year. The top locations I am interested in are Vietnam, Bolivia, Tanzania, India. Any insight into being vegetarian in these locations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi EmRob. I travelled around India with my husband about ten years ago and since the country is principally Hindu, finding vegetarian dishes is the norm rather than the exception. Finding dishes made without ghee (clarified butter), yogurt, cheese or milk might take more investigating. However, there is a huge variety of dishes and many that are naturally vegan, so I would not think it would be that much of a problem. Also, Southern Indian cooking has less of a dairy base than the moghul cuisine of the north.
