HC App for older phones

Question

Having just inherited an iPhone from one of my nephews I hoped to use the HC app on it. Turns out an iPhone 6 cannot upgrade past macOS 12.5.5 and HC have fallen into the cynical valley trap of only allowing newest versions of the App to be uploaded. This is extra frustrating as my “dying” iPad which also uses macOS 12.5,5 has the older HC app on it working fine. Any suggestions welcome unless they involve spending money on a new phone I and the planet don’t need. Oh and please don’t tell me it’s a security issue , that’s obviously rubbish. Cheers jon

Hey Jon, for your iPhone 6 issue, try contacting axion data services customer service at https://axion-data-services.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html for possible solutions. They might help with older app versions. Hope this helps! Cheers!

As long as you can get internet connection on your phone, have a data allowance, and you have any browser app on the phone (typically installed by default), you can simply use your browser to access the Happy Cow website.  Most mobile apps are little-to-nothing more than this anyway. Called "progressive web apps (PWA)", you should have the same functionality -- at least all the important features (except all the surveillance and tracking...win!).  Every website should be designed to be mobile-forward -- easily viewable on small-screen devices, which most today are. Happy Cow is a mobile-friendly website.

On Android, you can even create a home screen icon for a website address, if desired; I'd assume that your iPhone version has this feature as well.  (On Android, you click the 3-dot menu in upper right and select the 'Add to Home Screen' option.)

TIP: If you have a very limit amount of data allowance (for internet connection), look for browser app setting to turn images OFF by default, and selective load images, as desired.
