- Veg-friendly local fresh Mexi options
This place is small and way out in Gaithersburg, but it is fresh, busy and tasty. If the choice is between a big chain or this little local eatery, I would go here because it's important to support small businesses that recognize vegan options are essential for clientele choices! Everyone here eating late on a Tuesday evening looked happy and hungry - the portions were reflective of prices and tasty. They have a veg menu (lots of choices - sopes, quesadilla, torta, tostada, enfrijoladas, taquito, sincronizada, tacos, burritos, combos) that you must request - the walls are covered with the rest of the menu. Anything you order can be veganized, just ask them to hold the cheese or sour cream. The beans are vegan. They use staples like rice, pinto beans, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and avocados. That's it, though - no frills eating. They bring you your food on a styrofoam plate, and you can get your own napkins and plastic cutlery, along with fixings. The fixings bar had 4 choices of sauces, in addition to hot sauces, as well as pico de gallo, onions, cilantro, and some hot peppers. If there are options like those, it's automatically going to make the food better- yum!! I liked the food, and I was pretty full. However, I do wish they had more veggies like green/red bell peppers, spinach and maybe even add a few more like broccoli, carrots, etc.? Everyone working there was very nice and kept busy up until 9pm. It was nonstop for them! Clearly the folks who live nearby come here at all times of the day and night! Keeps the food fresh! Clean, cozy joint - I would go back and look forward to trying the other vegan choices!
