  • Great food

Like many vegetarian restaurants, Bann’s cuisine draws inspiration from multiple geographical regions. In the past, I’ve found places like this often have plenty of choice but never truly master any one style. Bann’s is different. Not only is there a wide variety on the menu, but the quality is outstanding—high-end dining. The staff are attentive, and if you mention your dietary preferences, they’re quick to understand and accommodate. The atmosphere is relaxed, and I’ve taken people with all sorts of tastes here—nobody has left disappointed. There’s also a great wine selection. If I had one small critique, it’s that the menu doesn’t change very often. As someone living in Edinburgh, I notice this, but for tourists it won’t matter—you’ll just be blown away by the flavours. I’ve returned many times: for a light lunch of olives and bread followed by teriyaki tofu with udon noodles (delicious), for beautifully elevated vegetarian haggis, and for a celeriac starter that’s pure perfection. Today’s visit was another winner—Charred Brassica and David’s Signature Smoked Tofu, both cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. Still fantastic food, still fabulous service, still a must-visit in Edinburgh. Updated from previous review on 2024-12-14
