- Great bread, terrific sweets!
Kaiser is a very good (but not very cheap) small bakery chain. Everything they sell is organic and also they label their vegan items very clearly with a dark green dot on the respective item description. German bread is usually vegan but unfortunately Kaiser uses honey in many breads. But they do have some vegan ones and they are absolutely great and keep fresh for at least a week. The best part are the sweets though: Make sure to buy some Walnusswecken (Walnut bread rolls), Cranberry cookies or one of their vegan spelt cakes. These are probably the best vegan sweet bakery goods you can buy in Mainz! In this outlet, students get 20% discount! Updated from previous review on 2017-03-07
