- Unexpected find in Cala Ferrera (Cala d'Or
Restaurant has been here since 1980, but it was only at the start of the 2013 season that the owner changed it to a mainly vegetarian establishment. I say this because he has retained a small separate non veg section at the back of the menu for those who do eat meat. Having said that, the vegetarian section is extensive and many of the items are organic, vegan, raw vegan, gluten free as well as some options containing dairy produce and eggs. We both had the seitan and potato pie, followed by chocolate cake for dessert. Everything we had was very nice and the prices were most reasonable. This place is open every day from 10.00-midnight, and the owner says it will remain open throughout the Winter season, possibly with a reduced menu or possibly with the existing menu (the owner has not yet decided which of these options he will adopt). I would recommend this restaurant, which we encountered quite by chance when we visited this area, and we were delighted to find it, as dedicated vegetarian restaurants are a bit of a rarity in Mallorca.
