  • Wonderful cafe

On a small place like the Isle of Bute to have a vegetarian cafe is AMAZING. Yes, that is the reason I chose Rothesay to visit for the day on my last day of annual leave from work, but it's been on my mental list of food places to check out since 2012! In July this year I finally got around to it. They have lots of roll/sandwich/panini fillings to choose from - they have dairy and dairyfree cheese, Linda McCartney sausages (vegan) and Quorn bacon (not vegan). They had haggis & cranberry as a filling option and when I asked for haggis and cheeze it wasn't a problem. They had 4 vegan cakes: apple strudel, turkish delight and chocolate, ginger cake, and one other which I've forgotten. I think it was date + walnut (was something which I felt was less interesting than the other options). They have soya milk for hot drinks and with my latte I got a lotus biscuit. They also had soup (mushroom). I probably would have gone back for an early dinner if they had had quiche or some hot food which was more of a meal, but otherwise it was a great place. They have musical instruments for sale (I think also CDs and vinyl, too) and they have a jukebox!
