  • Mexican food, but not by the book

Created in the location of the former Cumberland library - hence the name of this restaurant a pun on the French word for library. The veggie burrito is my favourite - it is packed (a mix of kale, sweet potatoes, corn, along with more conventional burrito fare like rice, refried beans and hot sauce). They are quite familiar with how to veganize it due to my family being regulars but in case someone new is on, you need to drop the mayo and cheese and add guacamloe. Most of their food is made on premises or sourced locally, they serve Abuelos organic corn chips, for example, which are made locally in the Comox Valley and they make their own fresh salsa and guacamole. The restaurant is compact and cosy and the people who work there are very friendly. This place is well worth a visit if you are in the area. [EDIT: My family were regulars here but never go here any more. the reason is that, while the owner is super nice and friendly, he is not always there and the service is not welcoming for vegans when he is not there] Updated from previous review on 2016-11-23
