- Very authentic and delicious brunch
Updated from a review left in 2016: AtayaCaffe has a very cosy, authentic, and family-friendly vibe about it, with an assortment of mismatched seating, a play area, and good wifi. The owners are always around and it really feels like a cosy and familial place. It's dark and moody which is what I like. Since I first went, the menu has expanded beyond an already very large variety of hot drinks and nice teas, and a daily changing lunch menu. They have an Italo-Senegalese vegan brunch which I brought an omni friend to. It was so good - especially the curries and the plantain, and I will for sure bring my partner to it. Elisabetta was very communicative via email and I was able to easily reserve a table. The lack of tap water is a shame but I also completely understand - especially for brunch buffets, that drinks are an important way for places to make an income. Maybe tap water if another drink is ordered is a nice compromise? I liked AtayaCaffee a lot more this second time I came - maybe because it is more established in concept, but also because when I first came there were a lot of children around and I was feeling a bit anti-social. A family-freindly vibe can be a good or bad thing depending on who and how you are - for me I prefer quiet places, but especially in Pberg it is nice to have spaces where people can bring their children to enjoy good vegan food too! I will for sure have to come again and try their non-brunch offering to compare to the delicious and filling brunch :) Thank you again both for the excellent lunch and a lovely environment for my friend and I to catch up in! Also, as a side note, I really think it is important and good to support diverse vegan businesses - the fact that this isn't your typical yoga-girl white and euro-centric Buddha bowl establishment is actually incredibly refreshing - there is a lot of quality and representation of cuisines I have never eaten even as an omnivore, and I applaud Ataya for leading the way so effectively on this Updated from previous review on 2017-02-22
