I went to Manly to escape a Sydney heatwave and asked for reccommendations on a vegan group the night before. The Hold came highly reccommended by a few people, and it was clear why. The food was sensational. I shared a Blue Beard and Captain Jack burger and both were flavoursome, unusual and robust! For once I couldn't finish the whole dish -luckily my non-vegan partner still had a little room. The service was really lovely, starting with water being placed on our table as soon as we were seated -always a good sign. All the waiters were polite and friendly, but the young vegan woman working there was particularly so, explaining that many non-vegan regulars try a vegan burger option and stick to it, because it tastes so good! I'd highly reccommend The Hold to anyone living in or visiting Manly, and specifically if you are forced to dine with a "I'm not going anywhere where I can't have me meat" type. At least you can have a really good meal, and not just the usual chips or salad of most mainstream eateries.
