• Tasty food, central location

I am a bit puzzled by the other very bad review of this place. Stadtbalkon is not necessarily the first choice for vegans in Mainz but in my opinion they do a great job in catering for vegans: They have some zucchini puffer (fried patties from zucchini dough) with soy joghurt sauce which are nice and also their two vegan pizza options are very good in my opinion. The salad (on top of one of the pizzas or on its own) is not some bland salad but from "Steins Kräutergarten" in Gonseheim, which is a fantastic local herb producer. If anything, I don't like that they often play quite loud music and seem to attract large groups who like to talk very loudly while drinking cocktails - I never feel like staying for very long. But the food is definitely a good option, in particular if you also need a choice of restaurant which pleases also non-vegans. Updated from previous review on 2017-03-06
