- Fantastic food, slow service
This Govinda is, indeed, a little haven from the chaos of tourism surrounding Machu Picchu. Although the service is, as others suggested, quite slow (with one older man serving the tables and another man cooking), the food was carefully prepared and delicious. I had a vegan Spanish paella (see attached picture) that was delicious, preceded by a bowl of vegetable soup so big and full of noodles that I had to eat it sparingly to save room for my paella. My friend had the quinoa soup and a sandwich--both of which he raved about. Everything was made fresh and from scratch. The tomato skin that makes the flower in my picture is from the tomato used in the paella. In short, this place is worth your time, but don't go there in a hurry. You probably need an hour to spare. As to the review that suggests this place is far away, it takes less than five minutes (probably more like three) to walk from the train station at the heart of town.
