  • Ate here for lunch every day

This was my daily spot for lunch. For $4, you can get a vegetarian plate (LOTS of food) and a soda. Explain that you want "plata vegetariano" and the really sweet ladies who work there will help you out. The typical plate will include rice, beans, tortillas, some type of vegetables, and some type of salad. They will offer you fried bananas or friend plantains, but I could never determine if these were cooked with butter. You will also need to watch that they don't dish out your lunch with a spoon they just used to serve meat to the previous customer. There's no concept of vegetarianism in this area, so thinking about not using the same spoon is completely foreign to them. Pay attention.
