  • Four great meals on four different visits

I go to London once a year for work, and last year and this year I've ended up at Mildred's twice each time. Last year I went twice to the King's Cross restaurant, and this year I managed to get to the original Mildred's in Soho and again to King's Cross. Each time I've ordered something different, and each time I've been incredibly impressed. Both burgers are delicious, but the Polish burger in particular stands out. The fries/crisps are fantastically crispy. I still fantasize about the mock duck cassoulet (available last year, but didn't see it on the menu this year), and the smoked tofu, fennel, apple and white bean sausages with cider jus, pan fried cabbage with peas and dill and mash had me making yummy noises alone at my table. I understand that waiting times can be quite long during peak periods, but as I'm pretty much an early bird, I got there before the evening rush each time. (In fact, it's the perfect late lunch/early dinner before catching the evening Eurostar home.) Highly recommended, and would be worth the wait even during busier periods.
