  • Fringe pit-stop

As an Edinburgh resident, I've been meaning to check out this latest addition to this well-established, local, family - run chain. Looking for somewhere to have lunch between two Festival Fringe shows, this seemed a good bet, being off the main drag of the High Street/Canongate. It was a great choice; not too busy despite it being 1.15pm on a Sunday lunchtime during the Festival. I ordered the quiche of the day (tofu and broccolli) and two salads (a green salad and a beansprout and ginger salad that also included grated carrot), was given a number and took a seat at the window. This was perfect for watching the world go by whilst dining alone. The restaurant is in the ground floor of a modern block of flats but is tastefully furnished with mid-century and 'found' pieces. It took a short while to arrive but my meal was worth the wait; simple but flavoursome. The gentleman who brought it was charming. There was plenty tap water available. My total bill was £7.95. There are lots of vegan options, too. I would definitely come here again. Updated from previous review on 2016-08-29
