- Best Curry We've Had In A Long While!
We've been waiting for Sahaba's to open for a while, as they promised there would be vegan options available. And we weren't disappointed! They've not been open very long & the manager is very clued up on vegan requirements, so able to advise on choices & adapt menu items readily. He intends to get a proper vegan menu together soon (we visited end Dec 2015). The restaurant has been tastefully renovated & the staff are very friendly, helpful & efficient. The food is a mix of Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai, grill & European dishes. We tried the Indian & Bangladeshi options on our visit. Of the various speciality curries, over twenty could be made vegan. We didn't get the chance to check how much of the Thai options would / could be vegan. For mains, we opted for a Vegetable Korma & Vegetable Sag Wala, both of which were beautifully spiced & very different in flavour. For side dishes we had our faves of Bombay potatoes & chana masala - nicely done & again with distinct tastes - with onion fried rice & lemon rice. A lovely mix of fresh flavours & textures, with none of the oiliness you sometimes get. We agreed these were the best curries we'd had in a long while!
