- Surprise Thai tastiness
At the edge of Georgetown is this strangely named restaurant that purports to have sushi and Thai food. What a combination... But it works. I wouldn't go here for the sushi or Japanese food because it is nothing novel or unique, it just has avocado, shiitake and radish style/based rolls that veg*ns make do with at sushi restaurants. The Thai menu is far more beautiful for the eyes and the stomach. Prices reflect the location, but the portions are generous. Usually, Thai restaurants have portions too small for my ravenous appetite, but this place is perfect for my style of give me food eating. The menu has green circled V's for vegan items, which are a few. However, above every section, it states that for 'vegan society,' you can have just about anything vegan-ized. Nice! So many Ghai restaurants become confused about vegan options and requirements that it is nice to come here and not need to worry. Choices include papaya salad, mango salad, soups that have noodles, noodle dishes with rice and cellophane noodles, fried rice dishes, curries and veg stir fry dishes. There are so many choices, it is overwhelming. Everything can be made with vegetables or with tofu & vegetables! Mango with sticky rice! Good appetizer selection, too. This might be my new fav a la carte Thai restaurant in DC.
