upon entering fresca, i was greeted by an extremely friendly staff member behind the counter (where vegan-friendly and gluten-free options are labelled), who patiently described and offered me samples of the different salads available that day. i felt like a kid at an ice cream bar! greedy me was deciding between the regular (hkd58, two choices) or large (hkd78, three choices), but was advised that their salads were lined with rice and leafy veg, and that the regular would be more than sufficient. i went with that, and added a broccoli soup (i lost the receipt and can't remember if i'd had the small/large and the price). what i appreciated was that when i chose one salad, the staff member was able to recommend another to balance out its flavours. the salads and soup were delicious, and clearly hand-made. i don't know if glutinous rice was used, but towards the end it was getting a bit heavy and i'll ask for less rice in future. upstairs, it's bright, clean and spacious. it was noisy that day as there were two groups of very excited and talkative ladies, but i was alone and it didn't bother me much. it might have had though, had i been with one or two friends and wanted a quiet conversation. the spirally staircase is a quaint touch, but while climbing up all i was concerned with was not spilling the contents of my tray!
