- An oasis for vegans
We stopped here by chance for lunch on a trip into the mountains and I was pleasantly surprised to find it had a full page of vegetarian and vegan options. This was surprising as it looks like a typical rustic Portuguese restaurant but is actually run by a friendly Swedish man. I had a home made vegan burger, my friend had an omelette. It is an impressive old hunting lodge ironically, with what is reputed to be the largest fireplace in Portugal. Just past the Monchique spa and before the village.
